I’m intrigued by this bet, as scoring isn’t Bronny’s strong suit. He averaged just 4.8 points in 25 games for USC, playing 19.4 minutes a game. Bronny shot 36.6% from the field, 26.7% from three-point land, and 67.6% from the free-throw line.
There is a chance that he does get hot in a game, if he is working on his three-point shooting. I would stay away from this Bronny James prop bet, but I would keep an eye on it throughout the season. Let’s be clear: Bronny James will be on the Lakers’ NBA team to start the season, not their G League team. This is almost a coin flip according to the bookies, but the over looks really tempting. All Bronny has to do is average four minutes a game and play 25 games. That seems possible for the younger James, even if it’s just at the end of blowout games.
The main danger here would be for the Lakers to send Bronny to the G League, but I don’t think LeBron will be happy with such an approach. The younger James should be given enough opportunities to register 100+ minutes this season.

Whenever Bronny makes his first NBA regular-season appearance, you can bet that LeBron will be on the floor as well. LeBron is going to do everything possible to make sure he assists Bronny’s first basket.
There isn’t a player in the game, possibly an athlete in the world, that is as focused on his narrative as LeBron is. He would consider it a massive feather in his cap to assist on Bronny’s first NBA bucket.

Bronny had a tough start to his college career as he suffered a cardiac arrest in July 2023, when he was practicing with USC.
He didn’t start his season until December, and a game on January 17, 2024, gives you a glimpse into his skill set. Bronny played 30 minutes and had 11 points, five boards, and six assists in an 82-67 loss at Arizona. He also still had to get medically cleared to play in the NBA because of his heart issues.
Bronny is a versatile player who will hit the boards and he has good court vision. He might never be the scorer LeBron was, but his father has always been most proud of his skills outside of scoring.
So far in Summer League, Bronny is getting used to the speed of the game. He had four points, two rebounds and two assists in a loss to Sacramento. He missed the second game and had just three points but added three blocks and two steals in the third. Defense is where he could make his name in this early part of his career.

The biggest improvement needs to happen with his shooting. He missed all four three-point attempts he took in his Summer League debut. Defenses are going to leave Bronny open until he proves he can make them consistently. That would be Bronny’s pathway to even more minutes. Fellow rookie Dalton Knecht is ahead of him in the lineup mostly because of his shooting.
To be fair to Bronny, Knecht is more than three years older than Bronny, and had a more dedicated role at Tennessee. Knecht also played three years of college to not even one full year for Bronny.
The younger James will likely be in the single digits in points, but he could fill in the stats sheet with some assists, rebounds, steals, and even blocks. Somewhere in the 1-3 range for each of these and slightly higher for points is the realistic expectation.
