Bronny James Prop Bets: Where Will Bronny Transfer?

Bronny James Prop Bets: Where Will Bronny Transfer?

In the wake of LeBron James’ eldest son announcing that he is declaring for the 2024 NBA Draft and entering the transfer portal, updated Bronny James props are available at sports betting sites.

Bronny James revealed that he is transferring from USC while keeping his options open in the NBA. In short, if interest from NBA teams is not high, he will forgo the draft and transfer after head coach Andy Enfield departed Southern California for SMU.

I explore the latest Bronny James prop bets and make my predictions as he approaches his long-awaited decision.

Bronny James Next Team Odds and Prediction

The following Bronny James betting odds are courtesy of BetOnline:

TEAMODDS
Ohio State+300
Oregon+400
Duquesne+500
SMU+700
Duke+700
San Diego State+900
Akron+1000
North Carolina+1000

If James returns to college, three teams make the most sense for different reasons. Let’s examine each of these three schools and then finish with my Bronny James next team prediction:

Ohio State Buckeyes (+300)

The Ohio State Buckeyes (+300) are favored to win the Bronny James sweepstakes. This price affords Ohio State an implied probability of 25% to sign LeBron’s oldest son.

There isn’t a secret to why Ohio State is the favorite to land him. LeBron is a native of Akron, OH, and grew up a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

If he hadn’t skipped college and gone straight to the NBA, LeBron would have played college basketball at Ohio State. During his time in the NBA, he has continued his support for the Buckeyes’ basketball and football.

As well as the Ohio connection, the 19-year-old is good friends with Meechie Johnson. The former South Carolina Gamecock recently announced that he is transferring to Columbus.

Oregon Ducks (+400)

If James wants to go for the safe NIL play, then Oregon would be a wise choice. Since early in his career, LeBron has been a long-time Nike ambassador. In 2015, he agreed to a lifetime contract with Nike1.

The University of Oregon is Nike co-founder and former CEO Phil Knight’s alma mater. He’s generous to the athletic department and has donated over a billion dollars to the school2.

The connection between Nike and Oregon runs deep, as does the connection between Nike and LeBron. If Oregon is interested in bringing his son to Eugene, then they’ll have a strong case with their deep wallets and NIL offerings.

Duquesne (+500)

For the first time since 1977, the Duquesne Dukes went to the NCAA Tournament. They also upset the BYU Cougars as the No. 11 seed. They’ll have a chance at pulling off a different kind of upset by luring Bronny James to Pittsburgh.

With LeBron’s high school teammate and long-time friend, Dru Joyce III, the head coach of Duquesne, it wouldn’t be a random choice. Joyce is close to the James family, and has been involved in their life on and off the court.

According to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Duquesne will be in consideration on James’ shortlist of schools3. In addition to Joyce at the helm, Bronny James will have an opportunity to run the offense right away at Duquesne.

Ohio State can’t guarantee James a starting spot after a lukewarm freshman campaign, though the Dukes will roll out the red carpet. Bronny James would most likely excel at a mid-major in the A-10 as a big fish in a small pond.

It might sound improbable at first, but when you look at the full picture, it doesn’t seem that outlandish. Bronny James’ betting odds to Duquesne at +500 are worth considering at college basketball sites.

NBA Team To Draft Bronny James Odds and Prediction

The following Bronny James betting odds are courtesy of BetUS:

TEAMODDS
Los Angeles Lakers+200
New York Knicks+800
Cleveland Cavaliers+900
Oklahoma City Thunder+1000
Dallas Mavericks+1400
Atlanta Hawks+1600
Los Angeles Clippers+1600
Philadelphia 76ers+1800

If an NBA team promises Bronny James that they’ll draft him, he will skip his sophomore collegiate season. The most likely scenario is that Bronny James is told he needs another year of college, but we’ll see if a team wants to take a gamble.

Despite averaging a lowly 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game, teams might consider drafting him as a project player and the chance to attract LeBron. Let’s examine two teams who, in my opinion, have the best chance to draft Bronny James:

Los Angeles Lakers (+200)

The Lakers are the most obvious team to guarantee Bronny James a contract. LeBron recently addressed his future in the NBA and said, “I don’t have much time left”4.

The 2024-25 season is the final year of his two-year contract with the Lakers. He will become an unrestricted free agent for 2025-26. If the Lakers believe that drafting Bronny James will keep LeBron around for longer, then it’s something they might consider.

Otherwise, it seems improbable that the Lakers would promise to draft or sign Bronny James as an undrafted rookie. Even then, it isn’t a lock that the Lakers will entertain LeBron’s wishes. I am certain that LeBron and the front office have had this discussion already.

Nevertheless, at +200, the Lakers have the highest probability of signing Bronny James. This affords the Lakers a 33.3% chance of being Bronny James’ NBA team.

Cleveland Cavaliers (+900)

There is a considerable gap between the Lakers and the next group of teams. The James family is familiar with the team with the third-shortest Bronny James odds.

LeBron played for the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2003 to 2010, and then again from 2014 to 2018. The hometown star fulfilled his promise and delivered an NBA championship to Cleveland in 2016.

Could LeBron return to ride out the rest of his career back home in Ohio? Drafting his son would be a good start to making it happen. It’d likely only be a one-year victory lap for LeBron, but a fitting ending to his career, nonetheless.

I don’t know if the Cavaliers will take a gamble, however. If their scouts believe that Bronny James is worth drafting to help the team, then that’s different. But, selecting Bronny James to appease LeBron isn’t as likely as the Lakers doing the same.

In review, my NBA Bronny James predictions are for the 6-foot-4 guard to be drafted by the Lakers. This is the most logical and fitting landing spot for the younger James in the NBA.

The Bet
Los Angeles Lakers +200
