NFC North Odds

The following NFC North betting odds are courtesy of BetUS:

TEAMPreseason ODDSDecember Odds
Detroit Lions+135-1000
Minnesota Vikings+275+1000
Green Bay Packers+375+1400
Chicago Bears+400+15000

The Lions remain the favorite to win the NFC North after opening atop the NFC North odds at sports betting sites. The odds have shifted considerably since then, though.  At -1000, the Lions have extended their lead through Week 13.

The Vikings (+1000) and Packers (+1400) are alive for the NFC North division. Even the Bears are still mathematically in the race, but at +15000, they have less than a 1 percent chance of completing an unforeseen comeback.

Detroit Lions (-1000)

The Lions have never won the NFC North title in the team’s history. Since forming in 2002, there have been 21 NFC North winners, but never the Lions.

In 2023, the Lions appear ready to end the drought. The NFL Coach of the Year candidate, Dan Campbell, has changed the culture of Lions football. The players have bought into Campbell’s philosophy, which is certainly translating to results on the field.

The Lions’ schedule is favorable down the stretch. The Dallas Cowboys are the only legitimate contender, with the Bears, Denver Broncos, and Minnesota Vikings also on the schedule to wrap up the season. Jared Goff’s performance against the Cowboys could be questionable, but he should have solid games otherwise.

When Goff is protected in the pocket, he is efficient with several dangerous weapons. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta, and Jahmyr Gibbs afford the Lions a variety of playmakers. Are there any concerns with this team? The secondary has suffered multiple injuries, and while the offensive line is talented, the line doesn’t have the best depth.

Minnesota Vikings (+1000)

Despite losing QB Kirk Cousins for the year, the Vikings aren’t out of the NFC North division race. The Vikings’ NFC North odds are not favorable, but they have some runway to work with over the next five weeks.

Following Cousins’ injury, the Vikings acquired Joshua Dobbs in a trade with the Arizona Cardinals. Dobbs stepped in against the Falcons with less than a week of preparation on his new team. Nevertheless, he led the Minnesota to a 31-28 win and cemented his status as the Vikings’ starter.

Dobbs led the Vikings to wins over the Falcons and Saints before losing by one point to the Broncos, 21-20, and two points to the Bears, 12-10. Dobbs made multiple mistakes, including four interceptions in the loss against the Bears.

The Vikings’ defense has stepped up in Cousins’ absence. The defensive unit was not expected to be a strong point of the Vikings this season. However, with 20.2 points allowed per game, the Vikings are in the Top 10 as of Week 13.

Green Bay Packers (+1400)

The Packers are one of three teams that have defeated the Lions. On Thanksgiving Day, the Packers upset the Lions by a score of 29-22 at Ford Field.

Over the last three weeks, the Packers have beaten the Los Angeles Chargers, Lions, and Kansas City Chiefs. The Packers might only be .500, but they’ve been one of the hottest teams in the NFL. Currently, the Packers have -250 odds to make the playoffs after having +550 odds in Week 9.

As a young team, especially the offense, a slow start was expected in Jordan Love’s first season. The Packers’ offense is figuring out how to work together, though.

The defense has been performing at a high level throughout the season. Rashan Gary should be a name that you hear a lot of in the coming years. After overcoming an ACL injury suffered last November, the linebacker is back to playing at full speed as a pass rusher.

We don’t recommend betting on the Packers to win Super Bowl 58, though they could be a viable long-shot bet for the 2024-25 season. As far as the NFC North is concerned for this season, at +1400, they are a better value wager than the Vikings.

Chicago Bears (+15000)

As we mentioned, the Bears have less than a 1 percent chance of winning the NFC North. Unless you are a diehard Bears fan, and even then, betting on the 4-8 Bears to win the NFC North is worse than a lottery ticket.

Expect the Bears to win some games down the stretch, and possibly pull off an upset or two. They play the Lions, Browns, Cardinals, Falcons, and Packers to close out the season.

Expectations will be high for the Bears next season. However, as far as the 2023-24 NFC North race is concerned, the Bears are not worth considering at any odds.

NFC North Predictions

Super Bowl betting sites are giving the Lions Top 10 odds to win Super Bowl 58. At BetUS, the Lions have +1500 odds to win the Big Game in Las Vegas. They are gaining respect to win the NFC Championship Game, too.

However, with the Philadelphia Eagles, Cowboys, and San Francisco 49ers are sitting in front of the Lions. Campbell’s squad is a solid second-tier team. Concerning the NFC North, the Lions are well on their way to finally winning a divisional title.

The Packers are playing just as well as the Lions right now. But, time is running out on the Packers, while the Lions are unlikely to choke with a winnable schedule ahead of them. They will likely be favored in four of their five remaining regular season games.

Campbell has the Lions believing in themselves, and we don’t foresee them coughing up the NFC North lead. In the preseason, we locked in a bet on the Lions to win the NFC North at +135.

The value isn’t there at the best football betting sites anymore, but the Lions are on the one-yard line in the NFC North division.
