Best WNBA Predictions Today (With Reasoning), August 13

There are important things to know before betting on the WNBA. Fortunately, if you can’t do your own research, you can see exactly how we arrived at each of our WNBA picks today and the key factors that influenced our analysis.

Atlanta Dream vs. Connecticut Sun: Sun +10.5 (-110)

The Sun (8-23) are getting double digits at home after snapping a five-game losing streak with a win over Phoenix. That kind of bounce-back momentum matters, and Connecticut’s home ATS record, which is 9-6 against the spread, shows this team consistently keeps games closer than oddsmakers expect when playing in front of their own crowd.

The Sun are also 8-3 ATS as a home underdog. That’s a sharp number. When a team consistently covers in situations where they’re not expected to win, that’s a trend driven by value, and value is exactly what we’re chasing here. On the other side, Atlanta (20-12) is just 5-10 ATS away from home, and their offense has been inconsistent on the road, including a recent loss in Washington.

Asking the Dream to win by 11 or more points on the road at WNBA betting sites, against a team that just got healthy with a win and has a proven track record of covering at home? That’s a tough ask. The Sun don’t need to win outright. They just need to keep it competitive, and history says they will.

The Bet
Connecticut Sun +10.5
Lucky Rebel
-110

Los Angeles Sparks vs. New York Liberty: Liberty -8.5 (-108)

The Liberty (20-14) are in a groove right now. They’ve won four of their last five on the road and have taken care of business in each of their last four home games. That kind of consistency on both sides of the court tells you this team knows how to win regardless of venue, and at home, they’re a tough out for anyone.

The Sparks (12-20) bring a respectable 9-7 ATS record on the road. But covering a spread and winning comfortably are two different things. Los Angeles carries the second-worst defense in the league, and their offense has been inconsistent lately. That’s a dangerous combination when you’re facing a team firing on all cylinders at home.

New York’s home ATS record sits at 9-7 as well, so the Sparks do have a shot at keeping this respectable. But with L.A.’s defensive struggles and offensive inconsistency, the Liberty have too many ways to pull away and make this one ugly by the fourth quarter.

The Bet
New York Liberty -8.5
Lucky Rebel
-108
