A lot has changed in the MVP markets since the season started a month ago! Aaron Judge (-350) has taken over as the resounding leader to win MVP, according to the top MLB betting sites. As a -350 favorite, Judge has an implied probability to win of 77.8%.
He overtook Bobby Witt Jr. (+550) at the top of the board before the first pitch in 2025. In late March, Witt. Jr was a +300 favorite, or a 25% chance, but that has dropped to 15.4% at +550. At the time, Judge trailed Witt. Jr, with +350 odds to repeat as AL MVP.
Aside from Judge, all of the other top favorites have regressed! So, is Judge the clear winner? We’ll get into that in our 2025 AL MVP predictions.

The 2025 NL MVP odds paint a different picture than the American League! This is a completely wide-open race, with five or six players fully entrenched in the chase. Over the first month of the season, Shohei Ohtani (+250) has regressed slightly from +160 to +250 in the MLB futures odds for MVP.
Currently, Ohtani has a 28.6% implied probability of winning MVP for a second consecutive season. This is a drop from 38.5% to 28.6% from late March to late April. Fernando Tatis Jr. (+350) has skyrocketed up that board from +750 to +350 since then.
The Padres’ right fielder has the second-best NL MVP betting odds, with a 22.2% implied probability of winning. That’s an improvement from just 11.5% to open the 2025 season. Corbin Carroll’s odds have jumped significantly, too, as the Diamondback has +400 odds, or a 20% implied chance, after entering the year at +2800!
While there were some big changes to the MLB MVP 2025 odds in the AL, the NL is much more competitive at this point in late April. The top contenders have held in the same spot over the last month at Bovada.

AL MVP Favorites for 2025
The Yankees’ Aaron Judge swept first place in MVP voting last year, earning all 30 votes. Following one month of action, Judge is back in the driver’s seat to win his third AL MVP award. Nevertheless, it’s early in the season and we haven’t even hit the summer months yet, so a lot could change in the coming weeks!

Bovada lists Judge as the clear betting favorite to win MVP in the AL after playing second-fiddle to Witt Jr. briefly. The main contender received lots of hype entering this season, but Judge has made a quick stand in the Bronx!

Judge’s MVP seasons have hinged on his home run ability. He racked up 62 homers in his 2022 MVP season and totaled 58 homers last year to win the award.
So far this season, Judge is doing everything asked of him, though. In addition to power with seven home runs, he has been connecting on everything in sight as a contact hitter. The two-time MVP currently has an insane .415 batting average!
Also, Judge has notched 26 RBIs, and a .1247 OPS to cap off a juggernaut-like first month.
Despite the torrid start, it’s a long season, and cold droughts are hard to avoid for even the best players. You also have to factor in a potential injury, so laying -350 AL MVP odds doesn’t present much appeal.
Bobby Witt Jr. (+550)
Public sentiment was way up on Witt Jr. entering the 2025 regular season, but Judge’s red-hot performance to open the season has prevented him from gaining more steam! After assuming the top spot at online bookies for AL MVP, the fourth-year shortstop from Texas has watched his price slide.
Judge was the unanimous MVP last year, but Witt Jr. was the unanimous runner-up. He did not win the award but earned all 30 second-place votes. Kansas City’s shortstop broke out last year with 125 total runs, including 32 home runs, on 211 hits. In addition to offense, he’s developing into a spectacular shortstop defensively and can run the bases.
In 2024, Witt Jr. became the first shortstop with 30+ home runs and 30+ stolen bases, and he’s only 24 years old!

Through 24 games in 2025, Witt. Jr has a .308 batting average with a .381 OBP. He’s also swiped seven bases and connected for two home runs. The power numbers haven’t been there for Witt Jr. yet, but he’s in good form in other departments, and I expect the home run bat to show up soon for him.
To steal the award from Judge, Witt Jr. must build on his breakout season from last year. Taking a step forward, combined with voter fatigue or a down year from Judge, could be enough for Witt Jr. to claim his first MVP award. At his current AL 2025 MVP odds, he is getting plenty of value here!
NL MVP Favorites for 2025
Shohei Ohtani is the early-season favorite in the 2025 NL MVP betting odds. LA’s star two-way player is listed at +250 to win his third consecutive MVP and his second in the NL, which represents a decrease from Opening Day.
Tatis Jr. is right on Ohtani’s heels for MVP after leading the Padres to a hot start out of the gates. Is he going to be the one to take the crown from Ohtani?

Shohei Ohtani lived up to the hype in his first year with the Dodgers, helping LA dominate the Yankees in the 2024 World Series. Ohtani is the +250 favorite to win his third straight MVP and the fourth of his career.
It would take a significant injury or unforeseen early-season struggles for Ohtani to be replaced as the top betting favorite in the near future. He won the MVP as a DH last season! Ohtani became the first full-time DH to ever win the award and hopes to get back on the mound at some point this season.
However, if Ohtani doesn’t return to pitching, he’ll need to have another God-like season in the batter’s box to win MVP again. Currently, Ohtani is hitting .261 with six home runs and eight RBIs. He has also recorded five stolen bases through 23 games.
Overall, though, Ohtani has looked rather human to open the 2025 campaign. Regressing as a hitter from last season is why I believe returning to the mound is paramount, but it doesn’t appear it’s going to happen anytime soon.

It’s asking a lot of Ohtani to maintain his pace from 2024, so I’m not optimistic about him repeating. If he does enter the starting rotation again and pitches well, then yeah, I can see it. That said, it’s questionable that Ohtani sees the mound this season.
Fernando Tatis Jr. (+350)
The Padres are flying out of the gates and offering stiff resistance to the Dodgers in the NL West! At 17-8 through 25 games, the Padres have a small edge on the Dodgers and Giants.
They are out to this start in large part due to the sizzling hot bat of Tatis Jr. The 26-year-old has always been in the mix as one of the best players in MLB. However, he’s never managed to get over the hump and play MVP-level baseball.
That appears to be changing this season, as Tatis Jr. looks much more comfortable and confident in his swing. It has translated to big numbers for Tatis Jr. through his first 93 at-bats. The native of the Dominican Republic is hitting .333 with eight home runs and 17 RBIs.

Tatis Jr. leads the National League in WAR at 2.0 and trails Ohtani by only 0.1. Meanwhile, Ohtani isn’t even in the top 100 at the moment! At +350, there is plenty of appeal on Tatis Jr. for your NL MVP betting picks.
Best MVP Sleeper Bets for 2025
Judge and Ohtani are favored to win the MVPs for their respective leagues again this year after winning them unanimously last season. Injuries, voter fatigue, and breakout seasons can shake up the MVP voting before it is all said and done.
Here are my top sleepers based on the latest MVP odds for the MLB.
1. 2025 AL MVP Sleepers
- Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (+3000)
- Wyatt Langford (+5000)
Toronto Blue Jays’ first baseman is off to a solid start after signing a 14-year, $500 million extension. The power numbers aren’t there for Guerrero Jr. yet, but he did the same last year. Guerrero Jr. started slow, and then his bat heated up as the weather got warmer.
Despite only one home run, he is hitting a respectable .277 and 10 RBIs. When the long ball comes around for Guerrero Jr., he will get hot in a hurry. That’s when his MLB MVP 2025 odds in the AL will improve substantially as well. So, buy low on Guerrero when you can because he should get going shortly.
Additionally, Rangers’ 23-year-old outfielder Wyatt Langford is getting insane value for MVP! With the Rangers leading the AL West and Langford red-hot, you can’t ignore the youngster at +5000 odds. Langford is destroying the ball, with a .294 average, six home runs, and eight RBIs.
It goes without saying that +5000 odds on Langford winning MVP is hard to pass on!
2. 2025 NL MVP Sleepers
- Francisco Lindor Jr. (+2000)
- Kyle Schwarber (+4500)
Bovada has great sleeper options in the 2025 NL MVP betting odds, too. New York Mets’ shortstop Lindor has been in top form to begin the season. He’s hitting .309 with five home runs and 14 RBIs through 97 at-bats.
Since April 19, Lindor has been on fire with four homers in six games! I’m surprised that Lindor doesn’t have shorter odds to win MVP, but I’ll gladly take this price at +2000. Likewise, the Phillies’ Kyle Schwarber is getting terrific value to win the NL MVP at +4500 odds.
Schwarber has been one of the most underrated hitters in all of baseball for the last few years. In 2025, his NL MVP odds certainly suggest that he’s being overlooked again. However, Schwarber may do too much for voters to ignore him this season.
The 32-year-old ranks in the top 10 and is only two home runs off the lead with seven home runs. He’s racked up a respectable .258 average, which, if this improves, combined with his power, Schwarber will be in the running!
MLB 2025 MVP Predictions and Best Bets
Every player has a full season ahead of them to prove they deserve MVP honors. Here are my MVP predictions for the 2025 season.
AL MVP Predictions
Although Judge is off to an unbelievable start and has the odds advantage to win the AL MVP, there is no value on the Yankee at -350 odds. It’s a long season, and only a month of the schedule has been played.
So, the way I see it, Witt Jr. is still the better option for your 2025 NL MVP picks! He may not be off to a red-hot start, but I expect him to pick up momentum as the season progresses.
You also have to take into consideration his excellent defensive skills at shortstop. The slow start offensively has allowed bettors to get solid value on Witt Jr. to win MVP at +550 odds!

Look for Witt Jr. to collect some momentum and get into top form in the summer. I am not as confident in Judge maintaining his incredible pace that he’s in right now. Also, keep in mind, Judge is an injury away from losing this award, which is something I don’t want to stress about at -350 odds!
In short, Witt Jr. is my top AL MVP pick for the 2025 season.
NL MVP Predictions
In an MVP race that could go down to the wire in September, I like the value on Tatis Jr. at +350. As I stated, unless Ohtani makes a miraculous return to the pitcher’s mound, I don’t identify the value for MVP at +250.
Instead, Tatis Jr., who has led the Padres to a blazing hot opening stretch, should be the top favorite. A lot of people have been waiting for Tatis Jr. to emerge as a serious MVP contender, and this appears to be the year in San Diego.
If the Padres remain in the hunt in the NL West, which I expect, team success will also be taken into consideration when voters place their picks. Consider getting on Tatis Jr. now before his NL MVP betting odds shorten even more!
