New York Liberty (-17.5) vs. Chicago Sky (-110) | Bovada |
New York Liberty (-17.5) vs. Chicago Sky (-110)
The Liberty are looking to move to 9-0 on the season, after keeping their unbeaten record going with an 86-78 win at Washington last Thursday. New York looks incredible to start the season, ranking first in points scored and points allowed, net rating, offensive rating, defensive rating, you name it.
As good as the Liberty looked last season to win the franchise’s first title, they have the potential be even better, which is scary!

The addition of Natasha Cloud to the Liberty can’t be overstated. She’s averaging 10.0 points, 6.6 assists, and 1.9 steals, and on the offensive end, she allows Sabrina Ionescu to play off the ball more. Cloud is also a terrific defender, making an already-great defensive team the best in the league!
Courtney Vandersloot underwent an MRI yesterday that revealed a right torn anterior crucial ligament (ACL), an injury she sustained in the June 7th game against Indiana. Vandersloot will miss the remainder of the 2025 WNBA season and undergo surgery to repair the injury.

It doesn’t look good for the 2-5 Sky, who beat Dallas in back-to-back games last week for their first victories of the 2025 campaign. Outside of those two games, it is bleak for Chicago. They’re 12th in points scored, 13th in points allowed, 12th in net rating, offensive, and defensive rating.
Sky also lost Courtney Vandersloot to an ACL tear on Saturday. The veteran point guard won the WNBA title with New York last season. She is the Sky’s all-time leading scorer as she spent the first 12 seasons of her career in Chicago.
The 17.5-point betting spread is certainly attainable for the Liberty, who have beaten teams by an average of 19 points per game. They routed the Sky 99-74 in Chicago on May 22, and now they’re at home, where the Liberty are 4-0 and have won those games by 23.7 points per game.
The Sky need a lot more from Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, but I can’t see it happening against Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones. Combine that with Cloud and Ionescu in the backcourt against Kia Nurse and Ariel Atkins for Chicago, and it adds up to a considerable win for the Liberty.
Let’s take New York to cover 17.5 points at home with odds of -110!
