Phoenix Mercury (-14.5) vs. Connecticut Sun (-110)

The Mercury (8-4) have been off since a 76-70 win in Las Vegas on Sunday, so they’ll be well-rested. They’ve won three of their last four, and Satou Sabally has been the key.

The forward is averaging 20.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists over her last four games for the Mercury. Her three-point shot is coming around as well. She is shooting 28.4% for the season, but Sabally is hitting them at a 37% clip (10-of-27) over that time!

The Sun (2-9) are struggling badly, and got thumped 88-71 in Indiana on Tuesday night. Connecticut tried to be physical with the Fever, and it didn’t work as they couldn’t slow down a high-powered Indiana team.

The Sun are the worst team in the league in offensive and defensive rating, and they’ve allowed the most points per game, while scoring the least.

This is also the first time this season the Sun are playing on back-to-back nights, and they had to travel from Indiana last night. Phoenix kicks off a run of three games in four nights at Connecticut, New York, and Chicago.

However, I believe they’ll cover the 13.5-point spread on the road as Connecticut could be tired from a very fiery game in Indiana. Sabally is on fire, while Alyssa Thomas has been brilliant this season and likely motivated to play her former team. It’ll be emotional at first, but Thomas has been in the league enough to know how to channel that into a productive night!

Thomas played the first 11 seasons of her career in Connecticut, who decided to rebuild without the veteran. She is averaging 14.4 points, 9.0 assists, and 6.6 rebounds this season, and Thomas will want to have a big game for the Mercury. Kahleah Copper is also back after a preseason knee injury, scoring 11 points in 18 minutes in her 2025 debut.

I’m backing the Mercury to cover 14.5 points at -110 on Wednesday night!

The Bet
Phoenix Mercury -14.5
