Next HOF Player Arrested for Illegal Gambling

Kevin Garnett (+200) leads the way in the NBA betting scandal odds, as it was revealed that the “Big Ticket” was present at one of Chauncey Billups’ poker games in 2019. However, he was reportedly unaware of what was going on, and thought he was going to an afterparty in Los Angeles.

While there were plenty of jokes online about Garnett and his role in Adam Sandler’s gambling movie, Uncut Gems, the bookies seem to think the Hall of Famer could be arrested. Next in the NBA gambling scandal odds is Allen Iverson (+400), followed by Paul Pierce (+500), Michael Jordan (+600), and Charles Barkley (+700). All four of these HOF players have been known to gamble, and have allegedly had trouble with gambling debts, if you believe what you read online.

It’s a rough day for Arvydas Sabonis (+800), whose son, Domantas, plays for Sacramento. There’s no evidence that the elder Sabonis gambles, although there’s no way to tell for sure.

I’m taking Paul Pierce for the NBA betting scandal value at +500 here, as he has had issues with gambling debts as recently as 2022. That, combined with the solid return of +500, is enough to sway my wager!

Next Player/Coach Arrested for Illegal Gambling

Malik Beasley (+500) is the favorite in these NBA gambling scandal betting odds, and this is one of those “if there’s smoke, there’s fire” moments. Beasley was being investigated by the NBA and the U.S. Attorney’s Office in September 2025 on gambling accusations. He was a free agent this summer, but Beasley has yet to sign for an NBA team.

Michael Porter Jr. is next (+600), as his brother, Jontay, seems to be the brick that caused this house of cards to collapse. Jontay is still awaiting sentencing and was banned from the NBA for life for his role in a gambling case. Did his brother know as well?

There are more NBA gambling scandal betting options, such as LeBron James (+700), whose ankle injury in February 2023 was leaked by Damon Jones to, allegedly, a crime syndicate of bettors. Again, there is no evidence that James knew anything about that, but he does (or at least, did) have a relationship with Jones.

I think Beasley is the easy NBA betting scandal pick here, given that the odds are +500. It also stands to reason that Beasley hasn’t been signed by an NBA team yet, as it’s a concern that something could happen to him. Detroit wanted to re-sign Beasley, but took a $42 million contract offer off the table when it was revealed that he was being investigated.

Who Will Receive a Longer Sentence?

Billups is allegedly involved in a complicated high-tech poker scheme where he would help attract wealthy poker players, and X-ray machines were used on the poker tables. Furthermore, New York crime families were involved, and that usually doesn’t go down well with the feds.

Rozier is accused of providing inside information to bettors, which allegedly equals wire fraud and money laundering, which are serious charges as well. But my money is on Billups at -200, given the connection with the Mafia. Rozier’s charges also involve the Mafia, but it seems from all the reports that Billups had more of a hand in helping out.

Will Billups/Rozier Receive Lifetime Ban from NBA?

This is a no-brainer here. It doesn’t look good for either Billups or Rozier, and I think even if they don’t end up in serious trouble with the federal government, the NBA is going to punish them. This is an awful story for the league and has overshadowed what has been a fantastic on-court start to the season.

I’m putting “Yes” in my NBA betting scandal picks, but at -2000, it’s not worth the wager.
