Best WNBA Predictions Today (With Reasoning), September 17
There are important things to know before betting on the WNBA. Fortunately, if you can’t do your own research, you can see exactly how we arrived at each of our WNBA picks today and the key factors that influenced our analysis.
Connecticut Sun vs. Atlanta Dream: Sun +14.5 (-110)
Atlanta (26-14) is a big favorite here at home, but the ATS record tells a different story. The Dream are just 5-13 ATS as a home favorite this season. That’s a brutal number, and it means Atlanta has consistently failed to win by as much as the oddsmakers expect when they’re the home side.

The Dream are also welcoming back Angel Reese and Rhyne Howard from the FIBA World Cup. Players returning from international competition often need a game or two to shake off the rust and find their rhythm. Expecting them to come back and immediately blow a team out by 15-plus points is asking a lot, especially against a Connecticut (10-30) squad that has been resting up and comes in fresh, with the exception of Leila Lecan.
The Sun sit in the middle of the pack defensively, which means they’re capable of keeping games from getting out of hand. A well-rested team with a competent defense covering a large spread against a squad with a poor ATS home favorite record? That’s a recipe we’re happy to back at WNBA betting sites.
Los Angeles Sparks vs. Dallas Wings: Wings -7.5 (-105)
The matchup angle here is straightforward: Los Angeles (15-25) brings the second-worst defense in the league into Dallas, surrendering 91.8 points per game. That’s not just a weakness. It’s an open invitation for a Wingsβ offense playing at home. When a defense leaks that many points on a consistent basis, covering a 7.5-point spread against a quality opponent becomes a realistic expectation, not a stretch.
The truth.

Dallas has been reliable against the as a home favorite, going 7-5 in that exact role this season. That’s a winning record in a spot that tells us the Wings know how to handle the pressure of being expected to win big on their own floor. The juice on this one is also favorable at -105 on the Wings, which means you’re risking just $105 to win $100, which is as close to even money as spreads get.
Put it together: a porous Sparks defense, a Dallas team that covers at home, and reasonable juice on the line. This isn’t a complicated equation.
