The Detroit Lions are in desperate need of a complete performance against the New York Jets at Ford Field. They barely scraped by the New Orleans Saints to open the season in overtime and were outclassed by the Buffalo Bills in primetime last week.
The offense is the catalyst for this team, with the defense in shambles at the moment. While there are multiple offensive weapons on the Lions, Gibbs remains the most well-rounded playmaker. Head below to check out my best Jahmyr Gibbs prop bets this week at the top NFL betting sites.

The Lions are going to feed Gibbs early and often. The offense is at its best when the running game is clicking to open up the play action downfield. That means we are going to see a heavy dose of Gibbs out of the backfield.

He heads into Week 3 against the Jets with 208 yards on 4.6 yards per carry. Gibbs rolled over the Saints with 156 yards and added 52 yards on 16 carries last week. He didn’t see his regular workload against the Bills because the Lions were behind early.
They had to throw the ball, but establishing the run will be priority No. 1 for Dan Campbell against the Jets. I don’t see the Jets running away with a huge lead, which should result in Gibbs seeing 20+ touches.
Although the Jets have been solid versus the run statistically, Gibbs is likely to eclipse 90 yards based on volume alone. So, consider Over 87.5 for one of the best Jahmyr Gibbs bets this week.
First Touchdown Scorer: Jahmyr Gibbs (+310)
At +310 odds, Gibbs is a high-value play to score the first touchdown in Week 3. His anytime touchdown prop is not worth considering at massive -345 odds, but scoring first is a solid option at +310.
As I noted, Gibbs is going to be utilized from the get-go at Ford Field. There are several ways he could find the end zone. That includes in the passing game as a receiver, a home run score on a long run, or at the goal line.

He scored twice in the season opener against the Saints on the ground and then caught a pass for six points last week in Orchard Park. That’s why Gibbs as the first touchdown scorer is on my prop bets card in Week 3.

Gibbs is much more than a traditional running back. He can catch passes out of the backfield and line up as a receiver in the slot.
He and Amon-Ra St. Brown are QB Jared Goff’s first two looks in the offense. Gibbs has the talent to assume multiple roles on the field, which has resulted in 11 receptions on 13 targets over the first two games.

Gibbs went for six receptions and 61 yards with a touchdown against Buffalo. Going back to last year, he has 26 receptions in the last five games. The Lions need to keep LB David Bailey off balance, and that includes using Gibbs in the passing game.
So, over 4.5 is one of the best prop bets for Jahmyr Gibbs this week.

However, as the season progresses, updated rushing totals and other props could be released by the online bookies. For now, let’s focus on these two NFL awards prop bets, and then attack the board if there is anything available in the future.
NFL Offensive Player of the Year: Jahmyr Gibbs (+600)
Although there is stiff competition, and my preseason bet was on Bijan Robinson to win OPOY at +850, I suggest adding Gibbs to your card as well if you followed me on the Falcons’ running back.
With Gibbs and Robinson, you have the most talented running backs in the league at excellent prices. Gibbs is off to a hot start in the backfield and will continue to be the centerpiece of the offense.
After signing a record for a running back three-year extension worth $67.5 million, Gibbs hasn’t slowed down. He’s averaging 4.6 yards per carry and, as I mentioned, a huge threat in the passing game.
That combination affords Gibbs a big advantage over the wide receiver contenders. So, at +600, consider Gibbs for NFL Offensive Player of the Year in 2026-27.
NFL Regular Season MVP: Jahmyr Gibbs (+5000)
Backing Gibbs for MVP is much more of a gamble at +5000 odds. On a $100 wager, bettors can turn that into a $5000 payout. However, the Lions are off to a slow start, and team success is absolutely required to win the league MVP.
The defense is likely going to be the underlying downfall of the Lions, which hurts Gibbs’ chances. Nevertheless, if you are confident in the Lions winning at least 13 games this season, the Lions’ top playmaker might be in the MVP conversation.
I just don’t have that confidence in the Lions, so I’m going to pass on including Gibbs on my NFL MVP card and futures prop picks.
