Dallas Wings (+125) vs. Indiana Fever

The Wings (4-12) have won three of their last four after a 68-55 victory over Atlanta on Tuesday to kick off a four-game homestand. Arike Ogunbowale had 21 points, while Li Yueri added 10 points and 15 rebounds. However, it was Dallas’ best defensive effort of the season, by far. They held the Dream to 23.4% shooting from the floor, and outrebounded them 44-37. Dallas’ offensive numbers weren’t pretty (37.9% from the floor, 15.4% from three-point land). But they committed themselves at the other end of the court, and that needs to continue as the Wings are 10th in defensive rating.

The Fever (7-8) are coming off an 85-75 loss at home to Los Angeles on Thursday night, and they did it without Caitlin Clark. The star guard has a groin injury, which is day-to-day. But their defense suffered as Los Angeles made 50% of their field-goal attempts. The Fever did force 19 turnovers, but couldn’t capitalize. Kelsey Mitchell led the team with 20 points, but Indiana was just 7-of-28 from beyond the arc.

There is no official word on Clark’s status as of Friday morning, but the Fever don’t play again until July 3 after tonight. I would bet that they sit their superstar guard against the Wings, to give her all the time she needs to recover. It is sad that we might not get to see Clark against Dallas’ Paige Bueckers. The two last met in the 2024 Final Four, with both playing all 40 minutes in a 71-69 win for Iowa over UConn. Clark led the Hawkeyes with 21 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. Bueckers had 17 points, four boards, and three assists for the Huskies.

That’s why I’m picking the Wings to win as a home underdog at +125! Dallas has a terrible 1-5 ATS (against the spread) record at home this season. But I think they’ll buck that trend on Friday as they’re playing well, against a shorthanded Indiana team that has been inconsistent all season. The Fever are also 2-3 without Clark in the lineup.

The Wings are also catching Indiana on the second half of a back-to-back, the Fever’s first of the season. I’m banking on home cooking for the Wings to keep their momentum going and taking their +125 odds tonight!
