Giro d’Italia 2026 Betting Preview: Winner Odds, Predictions, & Best Bets

Jonas Vingegaard will finally make his long-awaited debut in the Giro d’Italia this year. Until now, he has always focused on winning the Tour de France, consistently skipping the Giro to prioritize July.

This season is different. The Danish star is highly motivated to add the Giro title to his palmarès, which would complete the career Grand Tour triple for him. His path is made even clearer by the absence of four-time Tour de France winner and world No. 1 Tadej Pogacar.

Pogacar, who hasn’t raced the Giro since winning it in 2024, will skip the event for a second straight year. Without him on the contestants list, a massive opportunity opens up for Vingegaard, as no other rider in the field who matches his level.

Vingegaard enters the race with three Grand Tour victories: the 2022 and 2023 Tour de France titles and the 2025 Vuelta a España. Pogacar did not participate in the 2025 Vuelta, which gave Vingegaard a clear advantage there.

Even so, at last year’s Tour de France Vingegaard had to settle for second place behind Pogacar. Since then, he has started the 2026 season in blistering form, taking overall victories at both Paris–Nice and Volta a Catalunya in dominant fashion. If he arrives at the Giro in peak condition and is ready to handle a three-week, 21-stage race, he is the standout favorite.

The only real concern is whether Vingegaard’s preparation is disrupted, or he suffers an accident during the race. Barring that, it is hard to envision him being anything other than the clear front-runner.

Giulio Pellizzari (+500)

The most likely upset threat rests on the shoulders of the surging 22-year-old Italian, Giulio Pellizzari. The question is whether he’s ready, at this stage of his career, to land a decisive blow against Jonas Vingegaard.

Racing on home soil in Rome, Pellizzari would love nothing more than to deliver a career-defining win. He’ll enjoy passionate support from the Italian crowd on Stage 21 all the way to the finish line. It will take the ride of his life to overturn Vingegaard’s advantage, but if everything clicks for Pellizzari and the Dane suffers even a minor mishap, the Giro could produce a dramatic, unforgettable finale.

Pellizzari’s biggest victory to date came at the 2026 Tour of the Alps on April 24, where he dominated the field and won by 40 seconds. That first stage win couldn’t have come at a better time with the Giro d’Italia looming. He has also turned in solid results with a third-place finish at the seven-stage Tirreno–Adriatico and the five-stage Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana.

That being said, he has yet to defeat a rider of Vingegaard’s caliber. If he is to pull off the upset here, Pellizzari will need to be flawless and perform at an entirely new level.

Felix Gall (+1200)

You rarely see +1200 as the third-best price, but Felix Gall currently sits there. He’s entering longshot territory. However, you could make that argument for everyone not named Vingegaard.

The 28-year-old from Nubdorf, Austria, is searching for his first Grand Tour win in Rome. While Gall has a win in the Queen Stage at the Tour de France, he hasn’t managed to consistently put together solid results in the top events.

Last year, Gall recorded the best Grand Tour result of his career with a fifth-best finish. It was a tremendous ride from Gall, who has established himself as a strong top 10 athlete on the UCI World Tour.

That doesn’t go anywhere close to Vingegaard’s ability here, though. The field is relatively weak, so Gall is benefiting from that fact. If it was a packed field including Pogacar, then Gall would be closer to a +1600 longshot.

Outside of an accident involving Pellizzari and Vingegaard, Gall doesn’t appear like a viable option for our 2026 Giro d’Italia betting picks at +1200.

1. Adam Yates (+1800)

Adam Yates stands out as one of the most appealing veteran options in this year’s Giro d’Italia outright market, and +1800 is a number worth considering. It’s not a spot for a max wager, but there’s enough upside here to justify a small flier.

Yates has yet to secure a Grand Tour victory, but he’s consistently been in the mix. He placed third overall at the 2023 Tour de France and backed that up with a sixth-place finish at the 2024 edition.

With Tadej Pogačar skipping the Giro for UAE Team Emirates, Yates should have far more latitude to chase the general classification. His current form is encouraging as well: he finished third at the Tour of Oman and most recently won O Gran Camiño on April 18.

Given his track record, expanded team role, and strong lead-in results, Yates deserves serious consideration for your Giro d’Italia betting card at +1800.

2. Thyman Arensman (+2200)

In addition to Yates, Thyman Arensman is another strong Giro d’Italia betting option at such high odds. The 26-year-old Dutchman continues to progress and should be in the leading group with a chance to strike on Stage 21.

Realistically, Vingegaard likely needs to crash or suffer a serious setback for Arensman to steal the overall win. Still, it’s not out of the question, and the price at +2200 offers solid value. Arensman’s best Grand Tour results have come in Italy, so he’s already proven he can thrive at the Giro.

He finished sixth in 2023 and repeated that sixth place result the following year. He then backed it up with an impressive 2025 Tour de France, where he took two stage wins and a runner-up finish on another stage.

More recently, Arensman claimed third overall at the Tour of the Alps, underscoring his strong current form. He’ll need a few things to break his way, but at this number, he stands out as one of the best value picks to win the Giro d’Italia.
