The betting odds for the 2026 World Cup quarterfinal between France and Morocco suggest we’re about to witness a one-sided match. The Europeans are heavily favored to once again break the hearts of their opponents after eliminating them in the previous World Cup Last 4. Can Morocco get their revenge and win this time around?
I explore the latest France vs. Morocco odds, analyze both sides, and share my predictions and best bets for the opening World Cup quarterfinal in this betting preview.
France vs. Morocco Betting Odds and Lines
Here’s an overview of the main betting markets for the match between France and Morocco:
- France to advance: -400
- Morocco to advance: +300
- France to win: -168
- Morocco to win: +500
- Draw: +290
- Over 2.5 Goals: -103
- Under 2.5 Goals: -117
France is the clear favorite to reach the next stage, with the best World Cup betting sites offering -400 for them, which equals an implied probability of 80%. That sounds high given how good Morocco have been, but France has been the best team in the tournaments so far.
As for the totals market, the 2.5 line is fairly balanced. The under is slightly favored, but not by much, so the bookies expect 2-3 goals in this one.

France: The Best Team in the Tournament So Far
The last time France looked so dominant in a World Cup was in 2018, when the team brought the title home. They have by far the best attack in the world right now, led by the exceptional Kylian Mbappe.
The superstar is fighting for the Golden Boot after delivering seven goals and two assists so far in the tournament. He’s surrounded by exceptional players like current Ballon d’Or holder Ousmane Dembele, Michael Olise, Bradley Barcola, and Desire Doue.
This group is just insane, especially in transition. They don’t need much of the ball to score goals, as all of their opponents so far have found out.
Furthermore, the defense has been great as well. France has only allowed two goals so far, both in games where they scored three or more. The backline can withstand pressure, in fact, Didier Deschamps often invites it by surrendering the ball to create space on the other end.
You can’t really expect to defend against this team for most of the game, as they will punish you. You can’t really play too aggressively either, as they will punish you as well. The only hope is to make the game tough and be more efficient than them.
Unfortunately for most teams, you can’t really dominate them physically either. Paraguay tried, often going too far and not getting punished by the referee, but the French didn’t tremble.
This is a complete team that can certainly win the title again. Still, it’s a knockout tournament. Anything can happen, and Morocco are one of the few teams that have a shot.
Morocco: Efficiency Will Be the Key
Morocco reached the semifinals of the previous World Cup, so they will be hoping to match that achievement by winning against France. The team is both similar and different to the one from four years ago.
For a start, the style is a bit more adventurous. Morocco almost completely relied on their defense in 2022. They played with multiple defensive midfielders and prioritized getting clean sheets. The lack of talent up front was the main reason why.
This squad is more potent in attack and already scored ten goals in five World Cup games. Impressively, that came from only 6.8 expected goals, so Morocco have been very efficient.
On the downside, I don’t think their defense isn’t that good this year. Canada had some good chances to win, and they conceded twice against the Netherlands, despite dominating most of the match.
They can’t afford any mistakes at the back against France, but I really don’t see it happening. The favorites are just too talented to contain, so there will be chances.
If France miss too many of them, and Morocco is once again ruthless on the other end, there’s a chance. Still, too much needs to go in the underdog’s favor for an upset to happen.
France vs. Morocco Predictions and Best Bets
Someone might stop France at this World Cup, but Morocco’s chances are slim. In fact, getting -168 for the favorites to win in regular time looks quite solid. The African team is very unlikely to limit France’s explosive attack, while they won’t have many chances on the other end.
That’s why I’m happy to back France to win at -168. If you feel more adventurous, you can also try France -1 available at +105. If they take the lead and Morocco takes more risks, this could get out of hand.
