Best KBO Predictions Today (With Reasoning), August 5

There are important things to know before betting on the KBO. Luckily, if you don’t have time to do your own research, you can discover how we came to a conclusion for each one of our KBO picks today:

LG Twins vs. SSG Landers: Over 10 (-120)

This matchup sets up as one of the stronger over plays on the KBO slate, with both starting pitchers entering in poor form and neither bullpen offering much confidence. The pitching matchup favors the offenses from the opening inning.

Im Chan-kyu has struggled to find consistency for the Twins, carrying a 4.53 ERA and 1.45 WHIP into this matchup. His recent form is even more concerning, as he has surrendered 15 earned runs across his last three starts. That trend makes it difficult to trust him against an SSG lineup looking to capitalize on his recent struggles.

The Landers counter with Thomas Hatch, whose first KBO season has been a difficult adjustment. Hatch owns a 6.02 ERA and 1.69 WHIP through eight appearances and has consistently allowed traffic on the bases. His inability to limit damage gives LG an excellent opportunity to generate offense early.

Beyond the starting pitching, both teams have shown the ability to score, while recent performances suggest the bullpens may also be vulnerable if the starters exit early.

Recent meetings have also featured plenty of offense, including a 10-8 SSG victory yesterday. With two struggling starters taking the mound, this game has all the ingredients for a high-scoring affair.

NC Dinos vs. Doosan Bears: Under 8 (-115)

This matchup has all the makings of a low-scoring pitchers’ duel, with two of the KBO’s most consistent starters taking the mound. Riley Thompson and Choi Min-seok have both been exceptional throughout the season and have already proven they can neutralize these opposing lineups.

Riley Thompson enters with a strong 3.09 ERA and 1.11 WHIP, continuing an impressive campaign for the Dinos. He has allowed two or fewer earned runs in four of his last five starts and three or fewer in 11 of his previous 12 outings. Thompson has also dominated Doosan this season, posting a 0.00 ERA over six innings against the Bears.

Doosan counters with Choi Min-seok, who has been equally dominant. Choi owns a 2.64 ERA and 1.30 WHIP while allowing one earned run or fewer in seven of his last nine starts. He’s also been nearly untouchable against the Dinos, recording a 0.00 ERA in two starts this season.

Overall, the Bears’ pitching staff leads the KBO with a team ERA of 3.76. With both starters pitching at a high level and enjoying previous success in this matchup, scoring opportunities should be limited throughout the game.

If each pitcher continues his recent form, runs will be at a premium and the bullpens should inherit a low-scoring contest.
