Best KBO Predictions Today (With Reasoning), August 20

There are important things to know before betting on the KBO. Luckily, if you don’t have time to do your own research, you can discover how we came to a conclusion for each one of our KBO picks today:

Kiwoom Heroes vs. Lotte Giants: Giants (-150)

The Lotte Giants have the clear edge over the struggling Kiwoom Heroes and are the preferred moneyline play at -150. The matchup favors Lotte on both the mound and at the plate, while Kiwoom continues to sit near the bottom of the KBO standings.

The Heroes enter with a 40-70-2 record and remain on track for another last-place finish. Their offense has been a major problem, ranking last in the league with a .246 team batting average and only 420 RBIs. That lack of production could make it difficult for Kiwoom to generate enough offense against a Lotte starter who has already dominated this matchup.

Na Gyun-an has been particularly effective against the Heroes this season, posting a 1.50 ERA in 2026. Overall, he owns a respectable 4.14 ERA and 1.43 WHIP and is coming off a strong performance in which he allowed just one run over 5.2 innings. If he carries that momentum into this matchup, Lotte should be in control.

Kiwoom counters with Park Jun-hyun, who has struggled throughout the season. Park carries a 5.01 ERA and 1.73 WHIP and owns just a 1-5 record. His recent form is even more concerning, as he’s surrendered 21 earned runs across his last five appearances.

With Na’s success against Kiwoom and Park struggling to keep opposing offenses off the scoreboard, the Giants have the more favorable pitching situation. Lotte should be able to generate enough offense to take advantage and secure the victory for one of the best KBO bets today.

SSG Landers vs. Samsung Lions: Lions -1.5 (-110)

The Samsung Lions are in an excellent position to secure another convincing win over the SSG Landers, making the -1.5 runline an appealing play at -110. The biggest advantage for Samsung comes from its superior offense and much more reliable pitching staff.

Choi Min-jun gets the start for the Lions and enters with a 4.83 ERA. While his overall numbers aren’t dominant, he’s coming off an encouraging outing in which he allowed just one run on five hits. He’s also been more effective at home, giving Samsung confidence that he can keep the Landers’ struggling lineup under control.

SSG counters with Choi Won-tae, who carries a 5.09 ERA and faces a difficult matchup against one of the KBO’s best offenses. The Landers’ bigger concern, however, may come later in the game. Their pitching staff ranks dead last by a wide margin with a 5.61 ERA, while an unreliable bullpen creates plenty of opportunities for opponents to add runs late.

The offensive disparity is significant. SSG ranks second-last with a .261 team batting average and 524 RBIs, while Samsung leads the KBO with a .280 batting average. The Lions also have a much stronger pitching staff, including a bullpen with a 4.27 ERA, second-best in the league.

With Samsung holding major advantages offensively and in the bullpen, the Lions should have opportunities to build separation as the game progresses. If Min-jun can provide a solid start, Samsung has the pieces to turn this into another multi-run victory.
