Best WNBA Predictions Today (With Reasoning), July 9

There are important things to know before betting on the WNBA. Fortunately, if you can’t do your own research, you can see exactly how we arrived at each of our WNBA picks today and the key factors that influenced our analysis.

Seattle Storm vs. Atlanta Dream (-11) (-115)

The Storm (6-17) come into Atlanta as one of the worst offensive teams in the league, and their road record tells the whole story. Seattle is just 2-9 straight up away from home this season. That kind of futility on the road against a team that’s motivated and playing in front of its home crowd is a recipe for a blowout. The Storm simply don’t have the firepower to keep this one close.

Atlanta (12-9) has dropped five straight, so the 11-point line might look like a lot at first glance. But this is a classic bounce-back spot. The Dream are 6-3 at home this year, and playing host to a road-weary, offensively limited Seattle squad is about as favorable a setup as Atlanta could ask for.

Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray are primed to go off here. With Seattle’s offense struggling to generate points, the Dream’s defense doesn’t have to work overtime, which means Atlanta can stay aggressive on that end and let its stars cook. Covering -11 against this Storm team at home is very much in play at WNBA betting sites.

The Bet
Atlanta Dream -11
Lucky Rebel
-115

Indiana Fever vs. Phoenix Mercury (-1) (-110)

The biggest story heading into this game is the situation surrounding Indiana (12-9). The Fever played and lost 106-92 in Los Angeles last night. This means they’re coming into this one on zero rest; a back-to-back that always creates a disadvantage in a short WNBA schedule. On top of that, Caitlin Clark is sitting out. Clark is the engine that drives Indiana’s offense, and without her, the Fever lose their primary playmaker and the threat that forces opposing defenses to respect the perimeter.

Phoenix, on the other hand, hasn’t played since Tuesday at home. That’s a meaningful rest edge. Fresh legs matter in a league where the schedule is compressed and rosters are thin. The Mercury’s defense has also been playing noticeably better lately, which sets up well against a shorthanded Indiana team that will struggle to generate consistent offense without Clark running the show.

A one-point spread, which is sometimes called “a pick’em with a lean”, is a small line to lay against a fatigued, undermanned opponent. The juice here is -110 on both sides, which is standard. Phoenix checks every box: rest advantage, improved defense, and a Fever team missing its best player. That’s a lot of factors pointing in one direction.

The Bet
Phoenix Mercury -1
Lucky Rebel
-110
