2026 WSOP Main Event Winner Prediction and Betting Pick

Forty-year-old, eight-time WSOP bracelet winner Shaun Deeb (+5000) is currently favored to win the 2026 WSOP Main Event.

At +5000, Deeb’s odds translate to a roughly 2% implied probability of winning his biggest title yet. While 2% may not sound high, it’s relatively generous in a field that typically attracts around 10,000 players.

He’s the favorite mostly because all eight of Deeb’s bracelets have come in the last 10 WSOPs. On top of that, he has captured three World Championship of Online Poker titles and has two WSOP Player of the Year honors (2018 and 2025).

Behind Deeb, the odds lengthen noticeably. A group of nine players follows him in the futures market, including Daniel Negreanu (+10000) and Phil Ivey (+10000), each with an implied probability of about 1%. Deeb’s best Main Event finish to date is 108th, which came in 2018. In a tournament this large and volatile, where variance plays a meaningful role, there isn’t much value in backing Deeb at +5000.

A better approach is to look for stronger value on elite players who combine solid chances of going deep with longer odds. For my top 2026 WSOP Main Event winner pick, William Alex Foxen stands out at +15000.

Foxen is currently the top-rated American in the Global Poker Index and ranks third overall with 4,210.67 points, trailing only Quan Zhou and Tony “Ren” Lin.

His form in 2026 has been outstanding. Since January, Foxen has won four tournaments: the PGT Last Chance (83 players), the MSPT Poker Bowl X (740 players), a 6-Handed Pot-Limit Omaha event in South Korea (60 players), and the U.S. Poker Open (70 players) on April 18.

In addition to those victories, Foxen has posted seven top-10 finishes since January. Over the course of his career, he has won three WSOP bracelets and reached seven WSOP final tables. He’s also performed well in the Main Event before, finishing 40th in 2019.

Given his current form, proven track record, and WSOP betting odds to win, Foxen offers a much more compelling mix of upside and value than the short-priced favorite. There’s little doubt he’s a crusher and one of the best tournament players in the world right now.

Length of Final Table Heads-Up Prediction and Betting Pick

The length of the heads-up portion of the Main Event final table can range from a few minutes to a marathon session. We’ve seen both scenarios before, and it’s usually dictated by the chip counts going into heads-up play.

When the stacks are relatively even, it can take several hours before a winner is decided. Conversely, if one player has a big chip lead, the match can be over in a matter of minutes.

Given that, I don’t see value in laying -200 on the heads-up phase lasting less than an hour. Instead, the one-to-three-hour window at +125 looks like the better value. I don’t expect an instant finish, nor do I foresee a marathon.

All things considered, I’d rather take the plus-money side and bet that the heads-up portion of the final table lasts between one and three hours.

Winning Hand Prediction and Betting Pick

Two pairs are the most likely winning hand in poker at just over 30%. As a result, it has the shortest odds to be the winning hand of the Main Event. I’m not sure the value is there at +200 odds, though. The odds at +200 suggest a 33.3% chance, so there is a bit of a disconnect between the betting price and actual probability.

A pair has a 27% chance of being a winning hand. At +300, the betting odds imply a 25% chance of hitting. Most recently, Daniel Weinman’s win with a pair of jacks in 2023 and Koray Aldemir’s 10s in 2021 clinched the Main Event title.

It’s difficult to pinpoint what the winning hand will be, as it’s a completely random event. However, at +300 odds, a pair lines up with what I consider a solid wager for this fun WSOP Main Event prop bet.

Who Will Be Eliminated First Prediction and Betting Pick

Despite being the most accomplished player at the WSOP with 17 bracelets, oddsmakers do not have Phil Hellmuth finding much success. In 1989, Hellmuth became the youngest winner of the Main Event at the time.

However, he’s struggled to find success in the grueling tournament, which he has criticized for being an endurance test more than anything. Last year, he claimed it has become more of an event for stamina rather than pure skill.

Hellmuth has said that playing 12+ hours a day on back-to-back days puts older players at a severe disadvantage. In other words, he’s essentially admitted that he doesn’t really want to grind the Main Event anymore and would rather focus on other tournaments.

Because of his sponsorship obligations, though, he’ll almost certainly keep showing up, at least for an appearance. Even after initially announcing that he wouldn’t play the 2025 Main Event, he ended up registering anyway and busted quickly.

The last time Hellmuth cashed in the Main Event was back in 2015, when he finished 417th for $21,786. At this point, I think he’d rather bust early than endure the long, grueling days of the Main Event. Meanwhile, Negreanu is still clearly motivated, and Deeb remains in his prime.

So, Hellmuth is my pick to be the first player eliminated from the 2026 WSOP Main Event.
