Nominated for Best Picture Odds and Prediction

    • Yes (+400)
    • No (-700)

At -700 odds, the betting market reflects a clear reality. It’s highly unlikely that Avengers: Doomsday will receive a Best Picture nomination. With a -700 price, the 2026 Marvel film has an 87.5% implied probability to miss out on a nomination.

It’s important to understand that the Academy rarely nominates superhero movies. Exceptions like Black Panther succeeded because they functioned as standalone films with clear cultural impact. Ensemble crossover events, by contrast, are viewed by voters as franchise continuation rather than artistic achievements.

Furthermore, current Oscar voters are favoring practical filmmaking over heavy digital production. As AI and automation shift the film industry, the Academy is prioritizing physical sets, practical effects, location shooting, and human performance.

Films that rely heavily on AI will be overlooked by the Academy, at least for now. While Disney hasn’t confirmed that AI has been used in production of Doomsday, there is debate over whether the official poster was AI generated.

Nevertheless, even without that factor, a Best Picture nomination requires voting support across every branch of the Academy, including actors and writers. While Doomsday will contend in technical categories like Sound, it lacks the narrative standalone value needed to earn a spot in the top category.

It will dominate the box office, but the Academy will leave it out of the Best Picture race.

Avengers: Doomsday Box Office Domestic Opening Odds and Prediction

    • Over 250 Million (-130)
    • Under 250 Million (-110)

At -130 odds, backing the over 250 million on the domestic opening weekend is where the true value lies.

Crossing $250 million in a single three-day weekend is a rare milestone, but Marvel crossover events operate in a league of their own. Within the MCU, three films have cleared this threshold:

    • Avengers: Endgame ($357.1M)
    • Spider-Man: No Way Home ($260.1M)
    • Avengers: Infinity War ($257.7M)

What makes Avengers: Doomsday a prime candidate to join that exclusive club is the unprecedented pre-release demand. Disney opened ticket presales five full months ahead of its December debut, pulling in a staggering $16.5 million in its first 24 hours alone.

Remarkably, that figure was set with tickets limited mostly to premium formats across just 1,000 domestic theaters, roughly double the initial presale pace of Deadpool & Wolverine.

When a tentpole generates that level of urgency nearly half a year in advance, it signals massive pent-up demand. Combined with Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Doctor Doom and prime holiday-season momentum, it has the horsepower to break the $250 million barrier.

Rotten Tomatoes Rating Odds and Prediction

    • Over 88% (+100)
    • Under 88% (-140)

At -140 odds, backing the Under 88% on the Rotten Tomatoes score is the sharpest angle for Avengers: Doomsday.

An 88% critical approval rating sets a high bar for any blockbuster, and history shows how difficult it is to reach within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Out of the 37 MCU films released to date, only 13 have managed to cross the 88% threshold. That leaves nearly two-thirds of the entire franchise sitting below this line.

I don’t expect Doomsday to nearly reach the same levels of success as Avengers: Endgame, which was a huge hit with a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 94%. Anticipated hits like Avengers: Infinity War (85%), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (82%), and Deadpool & Wolverine (78%) all missed the mark.

While bringing back the Russo brothers alongside Robert Downey Jr. gives Doomsday tremendous prestige, landing in the solid 80% to 85% range is a far more realistic outcome. Avengers: Infinity War’s 85% rating appears like the benchmark for Doomsday.

I don’t see the plot being interesting enough to push it any higher. The action sequences should be outstanding, but the movie will likely fail to impress all reviewers with a mediocre storyline.

With this in mind, expect generally positive reviews, but just short of the 88% barometer.

Academy Awards Nomination Odds and Prediction

    • Over 1 Nomination (+110)
    • Under 1 Nomination (-140)

While fans often expect mega-blockbusters to clean up in technical categories, historical precedent across 37 Marvel Cinematic Universe releases points directly to a single-nomination ceiling.

Outside of the Black Panther franchise, the Academy consistently places major Marvel tentpoles into just one category: Best Visual Effects.

Look at the track record of previous flagship ensemble films:

    • The Avengers: 1 Nomination (Visual Effects)
    • Avengers: Infinity War: 1 Nomination (Visual Effects)
    • Avengers: Endgame: 1 Nomination (Visual Effects)

Despite Endgame shattering box-office records and serving as a decade-long narrative climax, it received only a single nomination for Visual Effects, missing out on Sound, Score, and Editing.

For Doomsday to hit two or more nominations (+110), it would need to break into secondary technical fields like Best Sound or Best Makeup & Hairstyling. However, those branches increasingly favor grounded, practical productions over CGI-heavy films.

Expect Doomsday to possibly receive a Best Visual Effects nod, but history shows the Academy will cap it right there. In short, I don’t see a path to two nominations. It should be fairly easy to push or win this prop bet on the Under.

Which Character Will Kill Doctor Doom Odds and Prediction

CHARACTER ODDS
Thor +200
Captain America +300
Loki +500
Mister Fantastic +600
The Thing +700
Human Torch +800
Shang-Chi +1000
Black Panther +1200

At +200 odds, Thor leads the market as the favorite to land the final hit on Doctor Doom. As the last active original Avenger, he is the unquestioned leader. Equipped with divine weapons and a tragic history of loss, Thor is one of the few heroes capable of countering Doom’s immense power.

However, the smartest angle on this prop isn’t picking a specific hero, it’s establishing whether Doctor Doom will die at all. Avengers: Doomsday is structured as the setup chapter for a massive multiversal event, leading directly into Avengers: Secret Wars.

Marvel Studios brought back Downey Jr. specifically to anchor the film as the main villain. Mirroring Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, Doom is positioned to win this initial conflict, collapsing the multiverse and staking his reign before the final showdown.

Killing off Disney’s biggest antagonist before the second installment undercuts the entire stakes of Secret Wars. Thor holds strong logical backing among individual characters at +200, but it far from a guarantee that Doom is killed in Doomsday. If anything, he may be killed and resurrected, which would most likely involve Thor, who might have a better chance of dying than Doom.

So, I’m pessimistic about Doctor Victor von Doom being killed, but if you must, Thor at +200 is the bet. If he isn’t killed, the wager will result in a “no action” and the stake will be refunded.
