The Democrats have a 97.6% implied chance of winning Minnesota, while in California, Xavier Becerra has a commanding lead to win for the Democrats at -2000, with a 95.2% chance. Closest Governor’s Race Odds and Predictions

  • Ohio (+500)
  • Texas (+600)
  • Georgia (+800)
  • Wisconsin (+800)
  • Nevada (+900)
  • Iowa (+1000)

Ohio (+500) opens as a narrow favorite ahead of Texas, and the state presents the strongest analytical value on the board for a major gubernatorial upset.

Republican nominee Vivek Ramaswamy faces Democratic nominee Dr. Amy Acton in an open-seat battle to succeed term-limited Governor Mike DeWine, creating Ohio’s most volatile political environment in over a decade.

The polls suggest a razor thin margin in this toss-up state for the governor’s seat. Although polls aren’t always accurate, expect them to be similar to the results on Election Day in Ohio. The state is nearly split and it’s likely to remain that way in the polls.

Siena College has this in a deadlock at the moment at 47% to 47%, while Fox News’ polling results are 50% to 49% in favor of Acton. At +500, Ohio offers exceptional analytical leverage.

Ramaswamy’s nationalized, high-visibility platform creates a polarizing floor, while Acton’s non-partisan brand appeal among suburban swing voters and crossover independents is compressing margins far faster than oddsmakers projected.

With the polls shifting Ohio into genuine tossup territory, Ohio (+500) stands out as the premier value selection on the prop board.

California Governor Race Odds, Polls, and Predictions

  • Xavier Becerra (D) (-2000)
  • Steve Hilton (R) (+700)

California’s blanket primary set up a head-to-head November showdown between former U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra and conservative commentator/businessman Steve Hilton.

Becerra is a heavy betting favorite in the CA governor race odds, and in such a heavy blue state, it would have to take a massive upset to flip the state. The latest governor polls point severely in Becerra’s direction:

Polling Average (PPIC, Kreate Strategies)

  • Xavier Becerra (D): 52.5%
  • Steve Hilton (R): 41%
  • Other / Undecided: 6.5%
  • Margin: Becerra +11.5%

Despite Hilton’s ability to consolidate the conservative base following a primary endorsement from Donald Trump, winning a general election in deep-blue California remains a near-impossible task for a GOP candidate.

Becerra is heavily priced for a reason, so this is a safe lock for Democrats.

Oregon Governor Race Odds, Polls, and Predictions

  • Democrats: -800
  • Republicans: +425

Democratic incumbent Tina Kotek faces Republican nominee Christine Drazan in a high-stakes rematch. At -800, with an 88.9% implied probability of winning, I’m surprised that the odds aren’t higher.

A Republican hasn’t had the governor’s office since Vic Atiyeh in 1987, so it would be one of the big shockers this year if the state flips from blue to red. While Kotek has her detractors and isn’t the most popular Democrat, the polls indicate she is in the driver’s seat:

Polling Breakdown (FM3 Research)

  • Tina Kotek (D): 45%
  • Christine Drazan (R): 40%
  • Other / Undecided: 15%
  • Margin: Kotek +5.0%

While Oregon’s recent elections have leaned competitive due to voter frustration over housing and public safety, the state’s structural Democratic edge in the Portland metro area gives the incumbent party a safe cushion in a two-way race.

There are simply too many blue voters in Oregon for the Republicans to overcome the narrowing gap.

Ohio Governor Race Odds, Polls, and Predictions

  • Republicans: -130
  • Democrats: -110

With Republican Gov. DeWine stepping down, Ohio presents one of the premier battleground gubernatorial landscapes in the nation. The GOP standard-bearer Ramaswamy captured the Republican nomination, while former state health director Dr. Acton leads the Democratic ticket.

As I demonstrated above, the Ohio governor’s race is projected to go down to the wire. I highly anticipate a re-count due to razor thin margins. It should be the closest race, and the 2026 governor’s race betting odds suggest that much.

Additionally, the Ohio polls don’t give much leeway between Acton and Ramaswamy, though the Democrat candidate has established a slim lead:

Polling Average (Siena College, AARP, Fox News)

  • Amy Acton (D): 48%
  • Vivek Ramaswamy (R): 46.7%
  • Other / Undecided: 5.3%
  • Margin: Acton +1.3%

At -130 (implied probability of 56.5%), oddsmakers favor the Republicans to keep the governor’s mansion in Columbus. However, Dr. Amy Acton’s recent momentum creates a compelling case for a Democratic upset.

Backed by strong non-partisan name recognition, solid 2026 fundraising, and a slight polling edge (+1.3% average), Acton has expanded her appeal among suburban swing voters and crossover independents.

While Ohio’s overall red-leaning baseline in non-presidential cycles provides Republicans a safety cushion, Acton’s strength across key metropolitan hubs makes her a legitimate threat to flip the seat. Look for an extremely tight finish, but back Acton (D) to pull off the victory.

Minnesota Governor Race Odds, Polls, and Predictions

  • Democrats: -4000
  • Republicans: +900

With Governor Tim Walz not seeking reelection, Democrats have rallied behind Amy Klobuchar, while the GOP primary saw businessman Mike Lindell and legislative leaders battle for top positioning.

Barring an unforeseen collapse, the Democrats should win without much resistance. I don’t believe anyone is going to dispute that they have a considerable advantage, including the updated poll numbers:

Polling Average (Mason-Dixon, Emerson College, SurveyUSA)

  • Amy Klobuchar (DFL): 55%
  • Mike Lindell (R): 33%
  • Other / Undecided: 12%
  • Margin: Klobuchar +22.0%

Minnesota hasn’t elected a Republican governor since 2006. With an underfunded state GOP, Democrats (-4000) will comfortably retain the governor’s mansion in St. Paul. This isn’t in contention, but -4000 odds offers no value in any sense.

South Dakota Governor Race Odds, Polls, and Predictions

  • Democrats: +1600
  • Republicans: (OFF)

South Dakota heavily leans red, and like Minnesota, you can call this race over already. There aren’t going to be any surprises or any close races on Election Day. As a result, odds aren’t available to bet on the Republicans.

The South Dakota governor polls sway steeply in favor of the GOP in 2026.

Polling Averages (Public Sentiment Inst., Meeting Street Insights, Emerson College)

  • Larry Rhoden (R): 56.3%
  • Jamie Smith (D): 36.7%
  • Other / Undecided: 7%
  • Margin: Rhoden +19.6%

South Dakota remains a dependable conservative stronghold where winning the Republican nomination is virtually a lock. While Jamie Smith retains some statewide name recognition from prior runs, Larry Rhoden’s decisive primary runoff victory consolidates the GOP base.

With a comfortable double-digit lead in the polling average and a formidable structural advantage, Republicans will easily hold the governorship.

New Mexico Governor Race Odds, Polls, and Predictions

  • Democrats: -1800
  • Republicans: +700

In a landslide, former U.S. Secretary of the Interior won the Democratic nomination for governor in New Mexico. Deb Haaland takes on Rio Rancho Mayor Gregg Hull in what is a varied prediction based on polls and the governor 2026 odds.

While there are only a limited number of polls available in New Mexico, they don’t line up with what the odds present at -1800 in favor of the Democrats. At -1800, Haaland has a 94.7% implied probability, but the polls don’t share the same sentiment.

Polling Breakdown (McLaughlin & Associates)

  • Deb Haaland (D): 45%
  • Gregg Hull (R): 44%
  • Margin: Haaland +1%

That indicates a nail-biter in New Mexico for governor. Although the Democrats are likely to dominate for the Senate, the gubernatorial race appears to be hotly contested, per McLaughlin & Associates. However, I don’t view this poll as being entirely accurate about the true picture.

New Mexico continues to lean comfortably blue statewide. Backed by solid fundraising margins and urban support in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, Democrats (-1800) are overwhelming favorites to secure another term.

That said, there is better value on the board for your 2026 governor betting picks, so I don’t recommend a wager at the current price.

Nevada Governor Race Odds, Polls, and Predictions

  • Democrats: -165
  • Republicans: +120

Incumbent Republican Governor Joe Lombardo holds a narrow edge as he defends his seat in a competitive battleground where independent voters now represent the largest single bloc of registrations.

While Democratic challenger and state Attorney General Aaron Ford continues to pressure Lombardo on economic concerns and housing affordability, the incumbent’s personal popularity and fundraising strength keep Republicans slightly favored to hold the mansion.

The Nevada governor polls are decisive but favor Lombardo fairly strongly:

Polling Averages (Wedgewood, Noble Predictive Insights, Emerson College, Noble Predictive Insights)

  • Joe Lombardo (R): 48%
  • Aaron Ford (D): 43.3%
  • Other / Undecided: 8.7%
  • Margin: Lombardo +4.7%

I expect the race to be closer than what the polls are displaying at the moment. Ford is closer to Lombardo than 4.7%. That being said, Ford isn’t the most likeable Democrat that is running this year. He is likely going to struggle to attract enough independents to swing the pendulum firmly in his direction.

Overall, getting plus odds for the Republican candidate is great value and the best bet for Nevada.

Maine Governor Race Odds, Polls, and Predictions

  • Democrats: -1600
  • Republicans: +600

With Governor Janet Mills term-limited, Democratic nominee Hannah Pingree and Republican nominee Bobby Charles lead their respective party tickets in a high-stakes three-way general election featuring prominent independent candidate Rick Bennett.

With Bennett effectively a filler, the race comes down to Pingree and Charles for governor.

Polling Averages (Fox News, Siena College)

  • Hannah Pingree (D): 51.5%
  • Bobby Charles (R): 39%
  • Rick Bennett (I) / Undecided: 9.5%
  • Margin: Pingree +12.5%

According to the latest Maine polling numbers, it isn’t much of a race at all, though. Maine is heavily blue and behind the Democrats, so Charles is running up against a juggernaut that is unlikely to be stopped.

With term limits opening up the seat, Maine’s First Congressional District and urban centers carry enough weight to insulate Democrats from rural pushback in the North. Democrats are the clear pick to win the governor’s office in Maine.

Florida Governor Race Odds, Polls, and Predictions

  • Republicans: -900
  • Democrats: +500

With Governor Ron DeSantis term-limited, Florida Republicans look to extend their long-standing dominance in Tallahassee. U.S. Representative Byron Donalds has surged ahead in primary polling behind a high-profile endorsement from President Donald Trump.

Polling Averages (James Madison Institute, University of North Florida)

  • Byron Donalds (R): 47.5%
  • David Jolly (D): 41%
  • Other / Undecided: 11.5%
  • Margin: Donalds +6.5%

Florida’s transition from a premier swing state to a reliable conservative stronghold is well-documented. At -900, there isn’t much payout value on the Republicans, but from a predictive standpoint, the GOP will almost certainly keep the Sunshine State red.
