FIFA World Cup Group J Betting Preview: Odds, Analysis, and Predictions

Argentina enters this tournament as the defending World Cup champions. Their winner odds of -325 show that they are the clear favorite to win the group. This price seems fair because Argentina brought back 17 players who won the World Cup in 2022.

Lionel Messi is now 38 years old, and he’ll be 39 on June 24th. However, he remains one of the best playmakers in the world and can still impact games at the highest level.

Austria’s experience is helpful, but experience alone does not win matches. Their pressing system can cause problems for weaker teams, but it also requires a lot of energy. Furthermore, Argentina has too many players that can break the press and punish Austria.

Another concern is the age of many key players, such as Mahrez at 35, and defenders Aissa Mandi and Ramy Bensebaini at 34, respectively. Experience is valuable, but energy levels can drop significantly when you play once every several days, especially in the hot temperatures expected at the World Cup.

Jordan enters Group J as a major underdog with odds of +5000. While they have some strengths, the gap in talent between them and the other teams is significant in their first-ever World Cup.

Forward Mousa Al-Taamari gives Jordan a dangerous attacking option, and the team is usually organized defensively because they don’t really have another way to win.

Jordan also lacks depth. In a tournament, teams need quality players on the bench to handle injuries, fatigue, and tactical changes. Jordan just does not have the same level of talent as the other teams in the group.

Their defensive discipline may help them stay competitive in matches, but they don’t score enough and the opposition will be significantly more talented in every game at the World Cup.
