  • Post Time:7:25 p.m. EST
  • Distance:1 Mile
  • Purse: $18,800

Race 2 at Mountaineer Park is a mile for an $18,800 purse. Look at Graceful Kitten and Magical Express to be leading players in the second in West Virginia.

Graceful Kitten is 4 for 25 and needs something easier to get into contention. He’s finished 6th, 8th, 6th in his previous three starts. This looks like easier terms for Graceful Kitten tonight.

Graceful Kitten is coming off a 6th place finish on August 15 for an $18,800 purse. That could have been better after finishing 8th on July 17 in a $28,600 assignment.

Magical Express is 10 for 57 and finished 3rd, 1st, 4th in his previous three starts. He had a $16,000 win on July 7 by 5 ¼ lengths in a comfortable victory.

Magical Express remained competitive in his latest start to show 3rd for a $21,500 purse on August 9. A slight drop in class gives Magical Express a big chance from the inside.

Best Bet
(1) MAGICAL EXPRESS

Race 4

(1) Undetected
-125 (4/5)
(2) Emperor’s Song
+200 (2/1)
(3) Mongolian Angel

(6) Esta Caliente
+1500 (15/1)
  • Post Time:8:15 p.m. EST
  • Distance:5 ½ Furlongs
  • Purse: $7,900

Race 4 is a $7,900 event covering 5 ½ furlongs on the dirt. Emperor’s Song and Undetected are going to be tough to beat in this one.

We should have a duel on the inside between these two runners. Emperor’s Song is 2 for 28 and should have a decent chance after winning three races back.

The mare beat La Reina Del Norte by a half-length for a $13,000 purse. Well done, but Emperor’s Song regressed to finish 8th on August 8 in a $15,000 race and 7th most recently for $15,000 on August 17.

Undetected is coming off a win in this class with ease. He cleared away from the field after dropping into this class.

Undetected previously finished 5th, 5th, 4t in tougher grades. Hanging around in another winnable race, look for Undetected to win again.

Best Bet
(1) UNDETECTED

Race 5

(1) Halo’s Dance
+2000 (20/1)
(2) Bobby Don
+350 (7/2)
(3) Starship Taxi
+300 (3/1)
(4) Drew
+500 (5/1)
(5) Muntij
+160 (8/5)
(6) Dream Saturday
+500 (5/1)
(7) Big Game Bob
+3000 (30/1)
  • Post Time:8:40 p.m. EST
  • Distance:5 ½ Furlongs
  • Purse:$11,000

Race 5 is an $11,000 event covering 5 ½ furlongs on the dirt. Consider playing Muntij and Starship Taxi in the fifth tonight.

Starship Taxi has finished 5th, 4th, 1st, 5th in his previous four attempts. He notched a win in May, with a prize of $6,363.00 going to Starship Taxi.

Starship Taxi was the favorite to win at even money and followed through with expectations. However, Starship Taxi came back to finish 4th and then 5th most recently on July 14 for a top prize of $7,812.00.

This is around the same class, so Starship Taxi needs more. He’s more talented than we saw there, so a small upset is possible.

Muntij has finished 7th, 1st, 1st in his previous three starts. He’s been a top top-2 runner in four of his previous four outings.

Muntij won a prize of $7,812.00 on July 14. This was an impressive win, with Starship Taxi well behind in 5th. He tried a tougher race in his latest start on August 2 and it didn’t go so well for 7th.

Back to where Muntij feels comfortable, expect the gelding to be tough to beat.

Best Bet
(5) MUNTIJ
