AEW Battle of the Belts V Odds and Predictions

The All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Battle of the Belts V is scheduled to take place this coming Saturday, January 6, 2023 at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Oregon (TNT, 11 ET/10 CT/11 PT).

AEW is the second largest professional Wrestling promotion in the United States behind World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). The company is based out of Jacksonville, Florida.

The Battle of the Belts V fight card only has one bout announced at press time, the Main Event, Orange Cassidy vs Kip Sabian, but check back with TheSportsGeek in coming days for the night’s full card. AEW usually serves up four PPV shows annually: Revolution, Double or Nothing, All Out, and Full Gear.

Last year, it was revealed that there would also be four other quarterly Battle of the Belts specials every year which would be airing on Saturday nights.

With the Battle of the Belts V fight card still being put together, there are currently no AEW Battle of the Belts 5 odds but check your Pro Wrestling betting sites closer to the weekend for any AEW odds. We’ll update this blog as soon as the lines are out.

In the only announced bout as of this writing, champion Orange Cassidy will battle Kip Sabian for the All-Atlantic Title in the Rose City. The two popular AEW stars have been feuding for weeks now, and the showdown evolved from last Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite.

AEW All-Atlantic Championship

Orange Cassidy (NA) vs. Kip Sabian (NA)

On last Friday night’s New Year’s Smash edition of AEW Rampage, Orange Cassidy held on to his title belt with a victory over Trent Beretta.

Kip Sabian immediately declared that he should be the next opponent for Cassidy’s championship, but the 38-year-old New Jersey native Cassidy and first-reign AEW All-Atlantic Champion instead decided to pick his Best Friends stablemate.

After the match, Sabian left the announcer’s table and beat a jobber with Cassidy’s signature Orange Punch ironically using an elbow pad of Cassidy’s given to him by Penelope Ford and picked up from the night’s previous match.

At that point, BOTB announced that it would be Cassidy and Sabian fighting for champ Cassidy’s at the main Event of AEW Battle of the Belts V in Portland. This title defense will be the ninth for Cassidy.

Cassidy won the title from AEW World Trios Champion PAC on the October 12 episode of Dynamite.

In his reign as AEW All-Atlantic champion, Cassidy has defended his championship:

Rush and Preston Vance
Luchasaurus and Rey Fenix
Lee Johnson
Katsuyori Shibata
Jake Hager
QT Marshall
Trent Seven

The victory over the aforementioned Beretta at the New Year’s Smash edition of AEW Rampage was Cassidy’s eighth title defense, so any upcoming AEW Battle of the Belts 5 Odds should have Cassidy as the prohibitive favorite.

Here, in the AEW All-Atlantic Championship match, we can expect Cassidy to successfully defend his title once again over Sabian in this Singles match from Portland. Sabian has been pining for a shot at the title for weeks.

Sabian eliminated Cassidy from Trios Casino Battle Royale on Rampage and asked Cassidy for a shot at his championship belt. Cassidy’s stablemate Baretta quickly pointed out that he had ousted Sabian, and Cassidy gave Baretta a shot at the title.

When Baretta and Cassidy met on Rampage, Cassidy pinned his stablemate after bopping him with an Orange Punch and Beach Break after Baretta was distracted by opponent Sabian’s wife. You want drama? AEW has it, brother.

Then later in the show, Sabian eliminated an unannounced enhancement talent before AEW announced that he would get his title shot at Cassidy here at the Battle of the Belts V at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland on Saturday night.
