Pick 1: Crystal Palace (+170) over Southampton

Saturday, April 15 at 10a.m. ET

It was a massive victory for Crystal Palace last week against Leeds United, as the Eagles soared above the dangerous relegation zone. Manager Roy Hodgson has instilled new life into the Palace attack, and they’ll look to showcase that on the road this weekend at Southampton.

The Saints are reeling and look all but certain to be relegated. They’re in last place for good reason and, though Saturday’s clash is certainly a match that they’ll view as winnable, there remains a decisive talent gap between Palace and Southampton.

Expect Palace to control the bulk of possession in this contest and, with Wilfried Zaha slated to return to the Eagles’ talented array of attackers up front, the Southampton defense is likely to be overmatched.

Palace enters Saturday at full-strength. After last week’s dismantling of Leeds United by a 5-1 score-line, the confidence is sky high.

Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise are speedy and shifty talents, the likes of which the Saints’ back-line has traditionally struggled against.

And while Palace doesn’t have the best record away from their home venue of Selhurst Park, the talent and speed disparity should be apparent across the pitch.

Palace is the pick to start things off with a juicy +170 price at sports betting sites.  It’s steep, yes, but the gap in talent on Saturday morning should be apparent from the outset. Back the Eagles to soar once again!

Pick 2: Max Holloway (-185) vs. Arnold Allen

Saturday, April 15 at 11:15 p.m. ET

The main event of this Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 44 card will pit the veteran Max Holloway against one of the surging contenders in the featherweight division, Arnold Allen.

Allen enters with a 19-1 record, while Holloway enters with a 23-7 record to his name. It is worth noting that Allen has yet to fight anyone with the skillset or talent of Holloway.

This will represent a huge test for Allen, and there’s good reason why he enters as a betting underdog.  Holloway has only lost to one fighter since 2013, Alexander Volkanovski who is the current title holder.

Although, he has lost three times to Volkanovski, it doesn’t take away from the fact that Holloway remains one of the best in this weight-class.

Stylistically, look for this to be a tough matchup for Allen as Holloway is unlike anyone else that he has fought.

Typically, Arnold Allen exerts a ton of forward pressure and likes to keep his opponents tired with a relentless attack. That won’t work on Max Holloway, who has earned a reputation for both his durability and his stamina.

While Allen might have early success, a knockout in this fight is quite unlikely especially within the featherweight division.  Expect this one to go the distance, and we know it won’t be Holloway who fades.

Holloway is tough, boasts an excellent chin, can wrestle, and can withstand the pressure Allen offers up. Expect Allen to weaken into the fourth and fifth rounds.

I believe that UFC betting sites are offering up the veteran Holloway at a bargain price, because of questionable judging decisions from previous fights.

Losing narrow split decisions shouldn’t tarnish a talented legacy, and Holloway should prove just that on Saturday night. Holloway is dominant on his feet, and his activity and energy with his striking should overwhelm the upstart Allen in Kansas City.

Two-Team Parlay Odds

If you prefer to just go with a two-team parlay card, Crystal Palace (+170) and Max Holloway (-185) has parlay odds of +175. This means you would win $175 dollars for every $100 dollars wagered.

Pick 3: DC Defenders -8.5 (-110) over Arlington Renegades

Sunday, April 16 at 1:00 p.m. ET

The Defenders have been good to us at the XFL betting sites, so let’s go right back to the well for Week 8 of XFL action.

DC is getting it done with discipline and defensive cohesion. They’re also backed by a rabid homefield advantage. The Defenders are the early talk of the XFL as we approach the post-season.

DC has been impressive in terms of a bullish run game thus far. They’ve dominated teams with it before, and will look to do so once again here in Week 8 vs. a porous Renegades’ defense.

That’s been a huge reason the Defenders have had such an impressive season to date and, with a 7-1 mark, they’ll look to enter the playoffs on a high note.

The Renegades are a mediocre 4-4 on the season. Although they have a decent pass defense, there really isn’t much of a run defense. That’s bad news against a run-heavy Defenders offense.

DC has only thrown one pick all season, in part to that run-heavy approach that wears down opposing defenses. Arlington has been poor with the run defensive schemes in recent weeks, so DC should be able to control the clock and tempo of this game.

To date, DC has rushed for an impressive 1,268 yards, averaging 4.5 yards per carry. They move the chains with their legs and this ground game is fearsome and versatile.

While the Renegades will try and keep pace with Luis Perez, he’s still unproven and an unknown commodity in this league. DC’s defense has been top-notch and should be able to apply all kinds of pressure on Perez.

Expect DC to jump out to an early lead and wear down the clock with their plodding run game.  Arlington trailing has not been favorable for their team, especially given their woeful passing offense.

They’ve been brutal at getting positive yardage thus far, so look for DC to assert their will. Expect DC to ride a raucous home crowd in the nation’s capital to another victory on Sunday afternoon.

Three-Team Parlay Odds

Taking the first three parlay bets of this weekend parlay card, with Crystal Palace (+170), Max Holloway (-185), and adding in the DC Defenders -8.5 (-110) returns juicy +726 parlay odds. This means you would win $726 dollars for every $100 dollars wagered.

Pick 4: Sacramento Kings -1 (-105) vs. Golden State Warriors

Saturday, April 15 at 8:30 p.m. ET

One of the most shocking results from a thrilling NBA regular season, was watching an upstart Sacramento Kings team win their division and earn the no. 3 seed in the Western Conference NBA Playoffs.

It was quite surprising, but now we’ll quickly find out how real they are as the games begin to truly matter on Saturday in the NBA.

Game 1 in this in-state rivalry will take place Saturday night and it should be a rocking arena for the Sacramento Kings. Them having homecourt and starting this series at home will surely play a difference. The thinking here is that they’ll get off to a positive start against Golden State.

Although the Warriors did win three of the four regular season games against the Kings, Sacramento is a dangerous and fast-paced team that can challenge Golden State right from the get-go here in Game 1.

Let’s also not forget that the Kings rested their Top 3 players in the 4th meeting between these two teams. Additionally, the NBA acknowledged a blown call in the Kings at Warriors matchup earlier in the season that gave Golden State the win.

Led by all-star De’Aaron Fox, the Kings are likely going to go as far as he can take them. This should be a good matchup for Fox as the Warriors don’t have too many great perimeter defenders, and it seems unlikely that the Warriors can keep Fox in front of them.

When Fox drives, he’s either creating mismatches inside or dishing it out for their hot three-point shooters. His speed generates trouble for the Warriors as they’re also likely to rack up big foul numbers when they’re guarding Fox.

Further hammering our point to take the Kings is the fact that Sabonis averaged over 21ppg and 16.7 rebounds per game against the Warriors this season. Golden State has nobody that can stop him.

It promises to be a raucous atmosphere inside the building for Game 1, as the Kings return to the Playoffs for the first time in sixteen long seasons.

Sacramento is inexperienced and untested in the post-season. They may not win the series against the battle-tested Warriors, according to the top NBA betting sites, but the upstart Kings should at least find a way to pick up the Game 1 victory.

Golden State was atrocious on the road this regular season. Additionally, the energy and enthusiasm of the Kings’ youthful squad should run the Warriors off the court on Saturday night. Light the Beam!
