TEAM | ODDS |
---|---|
Chelsea | -275 |
Flamengo | +275 |
Los Angeles FC | +600 |
Esperance de Tunis | +4000 |
Chelsea is the obvious choice of the best soccer sportsbooks online, with Flamengo the only realistic challenger to the Blues. LA and Esperance are very unlikely to even be competitive, but that’s only natural given the leagues they play in.

FIFA Club World Cup Group D Favorites
Two teams lead the way in Group D, so let’s take a look at the favorites in this Club World Cup Group D preview!
Chelsea (-275) – Aiming for Another CWC Win
- League: Premier League (England)
- Head Coach: Enzo Maresca
- Key Players: Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, Enzo Fernández, Reece James
Chelsea finished fourth in the Premier League this season, but they did win the UEFA Conference League with a 4-1 win over Spanish team Real Betis.
That’s the first major success of the since Todd Boehly took over the team in May 2022. There have been six managers at the club during that time, but Enzo Maresca has steadied the ship, and Chelsea seems to have a plan now.

Chelsea won the 2021 edition of this tournament, which was delayed to February 2022 for various reasons. They will be looking to match that and have the strongest squad in Group D, led by midfielder Cole Palmer, who scored 15 goals in all competitions (most by any player).
Christopher Nkunku was second with 14, with seven coming in the Conference League. Nicolas Jackson was their main striker in the Premier League, and he had 13 goals. Chelsea also recently bought Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, and he could make his debut at the Club World Cup. Enzo Fernández and Moises Caicedo form an impressive midfield as well.
Chelsea seems to have settled on a back four of Marc Cucurella, Tosin Adarabioyo, Benoit Badiashile, and Levi Colwill. However, one might have to make way for captain Reece James, who had another injury-riddled season. Robert Sanchez isn’t the most consistent keeper, either. Chelsea are inconsistent at the back, although I don’t know if any team in this group can take advantage of their issues.
The Blues should top this group relatively easy and the odds are actually quite decent, given the gap in talent. This price could be lower for Chelsea, whose Club World Cup odds of +1000 to win it all could also be worth a small bet!
Flamengo (+275) – Can the Brazilians Dance to the Top of Group D?
- League: Serie A (Brazil)
- Head Coach: Filipe Luis
- Key Players: Giorian de Arrascaeta, Luiz Araujo, Jorginho, Leo Ortiz, Agustin Rossi
Flamengo won the 2022 Copa Libertadores to qualify for this tournament, and are currently leading Serie A in Brazil. They also won the Campeonato Carioca, which went from January to March, and the Supercopa do Brazil. Flamengo is Brazil’s top club, and have churned out numerous Brazilian legends in their history.

Flamengo signed Jorginho, who spent five years at Chelsea, and has also played for Napoli and Arsenal. The midfielder is 33 now, but Jorginho brings experience to the squad and will keep things ticking over in the middle of the pitch. He’ll join Giorgian de Arrascaeta, whose 12 goals leads the team, ahead of forwards Luiz Araujo and Bruno Henrique. Leo Ortiz and Leo Pereira lead the back line in front of keeper Agustin Rossi.
Flamengo’s best attribute might be their manager. Filipe Luis was reportedly in the running to be the next Brazilian manager before Carlo Ancelotti took the job. Luis played 15 matches for Chelsea over 2014 and 2015, but spent most of his career at Atlético Madrid. He has already won three trophies for Flamengo since taking over in September 2024!
The Brazilian club won’t be afraid of Chelsea, and will give them a solid game in their match on June 20. Still, finishing above the Blues from London will be tough, and the goal is to simply qualify for the knockouts.
FIFA Club World Cup Group D Longshots
Now, let’s examine the two teams battling to keep up with Chelsea and Flamengo in Group D!
Los Angeles FC (+600) – Can LAFC Sneak Into the Knockout Stage?
- League: Major League Soccer (United States)
- Head Coach: Steve Cherundolo
- Key Players: Denis Bouanga, Olivier Giroud, Mark Delgado, Sergi Palencia, Hugo Lloris
LAFC is fifth in the MLS Western Conference currently, and they were runners-up to Club Leon in the 2023 CONCACAF Champions League. However, they get the spot because Club Leon were victims of the multi-club ownership rule.
LAFC had to beat Club America in a one-game playoff to qualify, thanks to a 115th-minute goal from Denis Bouanga for a 2-1 win.

Bouanga is their star man as he has scored eight goals in 15 MLS games this season. LAFC also has Olivier Giroud, and at 38 years old, the French striker’s experience will be huge in a tournament like this. Mark Delgado and Igor Jesus patrol the midfield for LAFC, while Sergi Palencia is the fey defender. Another French legend, Hugo Lloris, has the #1 keeper’s gloves for the club.
Manager Steve Cherundolo has been in charge at LAFC since 2022, but he also played 15 seasons for German club Hannover, and made 87 appearances for the US national team. He has won three trophies with LAFC: the MLS Cup in 2022 to win the league, the Supporters’ Shield in 2022, and the U.S. Open Cup in 2024.
LAFC isn’t a bad side, and if they beat Flamengo in their last match on June 24, I could see them going through! I wouldn’t touch their Club World Cup Group D odds of +600 to top the group, but that final match against Flamengo could bring a surprise.
Esperance de Tunis (+4000) – Is the Tunisian Team Overwhelmed?
- League: Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 (Tunisia)
- Head Coach: Maher Kanzari
- Key Players: Youcef Belaili, Yan Sasse, Achref Jabri, Raed Bouchniba, Amenallah Memmiche
Esperance de Tunis, also known as EST and ES Tunis, is the most successful team in Tunisian football history. They won their 34th league title to qualify for the Club World Cup, and it was their eighth title in the last nine seasons!

— Espérance de Tunis ❤️💛 الترجي التونسي (@ESTuniscom) June 11, 2025
Forward Youcef Belaili had 19 goals in 35 games in all competitions for EST, followed by midfielder Yan Sasse with 15. Houseem Tka plays alongside Sasse in midfield, while Mohamed Amine Ben Hamida and Hamza Jelassi are the key defenders. Amenallah Memmiche is their #1 keeper, and he might be busy in the United States!
EST might be a force to be reckoned with domesctically, but the opposition level will be completely different in the Club World Cup. Anything but three defeats will be a success for the Tunisian champions.
FIFA Club World Cup Group D Predictions and Betting Pick
It’s going to come down to Chelsea and Flamengo, but I think Chelsea will be too strong. They also have a massive squad, so they can rotate in and out, and not suffer much of a letdown. The big match will be Flamengo and LAFC, as the winner of that game will likely finish second.
Let’s put Chelsea’s price of -275 in our Club World Cup Group D predictions. It’s not much of a return, but a $100 bet would get you $36.36 and the probability of winning is higher than the odds suggest.
