Reasoning for Each Leg of Our NFL Parlay This Weekend

Jake Browning will lead the Bengals against Carson Wentz and the Vikings in a battle of backup quarterbacks this weekend. Minnesota will also be without running back Aaron Jones, who hurt his hamstring last week.
Cincy is getting 3 points as a Week 3 underdog in Minnesota. I expect Browning to play well enough to cover and would not be surprised if he beat the Vikings outright.
Ja’Marr Chase had 14 catches, 165 yards, & a TD… an outstanding game.

Changing this bet from Cincinnati +3 (-115) to a Bengals outright win (+140) improves the parlay odds from +995 to +1306.
Browning was 4-3 in 2023 when he stepped in for an injured Joe Burrow. One of those wins came against Minnesota. He had 324 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and a 69% completion percentage in the overtime win.
After Burrow went down last week, Browning racked up 241 passing yards and threw two TD passes to help Cincy beat Jacksonville. If Browning can keep the turnovers to a minimum, he and the Bengals will at least cover if not win outright this weekend.

The second leg of my Week 3 NFL parlay is for the Packers (-440) to take down the Browns in Cleveland this week. Green Bay is one of the biggest favorites of the weekend at -7.
Cleveland’s run defense has been top-notch, allowing a league-low 45.5 rushing YPG. They also rank first in passing yards allowed at 191.5 YPG. However, they did allow four passing touchdowns in their loss last week
Also, the Browns’ offense has averaged just 16.5 PPG this season. Green Bay, on the other hand, has scored 27 points in both games so far. The Packers’ defense has also been top-notch, allowing 238 offensive YPG, the third-fewest in the league.
Both teams have great defenses, but only the Packers sport a functional offense. They will beat Cleveland this weekend, but the Browns’ defense could keep the game within seven points. With that in mind, I suggest the Packers’ moneyline over their point spread this weekend.

The only straight-up upset in my Week 3 parlay is for the Raiders (+150) to beat the Commanders in Washington. Both teams are 1-1 after losing last week in their respective prime time matchups.

Las Vegas’s passing game was shut down by the Chargers’ defense. Geno Smith and company should have an easier time moving the ball against Washington.
The Commanders, on the other hand, could be severely limited by injuries this weekend. Running back Austin Ekeler is out for the season after tearing his Achilles tendon last week. Quarterback Jayden Daniels was also injured in the loss and is at risk of missing this game.
If Daniels is out, Washington’s offense will be in serious trouble. Even with Daniels, the Commanders struggled to recreate their success from last season. The Raiders secured a road upset in Week 1, and they will get another one this week if Daniels is out of Washington’s starting lineup.

The final leg of my parlay this week is Tampa Bay -6.5 against the Jets. Like Washington, New York’s quarterback was injured last week.
Justin Fields suffered a concussion in the fourth quarter against the Bills. Fields has been ruled out for this week’s game against the Bucs.
With Fields unavailable, the Jets will be relying on Tyrod Taylor. This will be Taylor’s first start since 2023, when he went 2-3 for the Giants. He has a 5-7 record as a starter since the 2020 season.

The Jets’ defense has been disappointing this season, allowing 337 offensive YPG, the 10th-most in the NFL. New York has surrendered 32 PPG this year, the third-most in the league.
Tampa Bay, on the other hand, has held opponents to 19.5 PPG and 312 YPG. The Bucs’ offense has been nearly unstoppable late in games.
Baker Mayfield has led game-winning drives in both games this year, and second-year wide receiver Emeka Egbuka is tied for the most receiving touchdowns this year. Tampa Bay’s offense will continue to roll against a bad Jets’ defense, and the Bucs will win this weekend.
