Mr. Olympia 2025 Format and Key Info
The 2025 Mr. Olympia competition is scheduled to be held on Friday, October 10, and Saturday, October 11, in Las Vegas, NV, at Resorts World Las Vegas.
The total purse for the competition has not been officially announced, but is expected to be between $1.5 to $2 million. In 2024, the winner won $600,000, while the runner-up was awarded $250,000.
Mr. Olympia Schedule and Ranking Criteria:
- October 10 – Mr. Olympia pre-judging (9:00 p.m.)
- October 11 – Mr. Olympia finals (10:00 p.m.)
20 men have qualified for the pre-judging round for 2025 Mr. Olympia. Sanctioned by the IFBB Pro League, bodybuilders are ranked by a panel of seven judges on five main criteria:
- Size/Mass
- Symmetry
- Proportion
- Conditioning/Definition
- Overall Presentation
Judges rank each bodybuilder on a scoring system from 1 to 15. To avoid subjectivity and for fairness, the lowest and highest scores are discarded. Note that a lower score is better than a higher score.
2025 Mr. Olympia Contestants
With the pre-judging round quickly approaching, the odds to win Mr. Olympia 2025 highlight four top favorites. Let’s break down and assess each athlete before making my Mr. Olympia picks:
Hadi Choopan (+225)
The 38-year-old Iranian is one of the most accomplished bodybuilders on the IFBB Pro League circuit. Choopan has an impressive resume, which includes winning the 2022 Mr. Olympia title. With the victory, he became the first Iranian to ever capture the Sandow Trophy.
In 2024, Choopan took home $250,000 for second place. He had a strong season, but was unable to get his crown back. Nevertheless, Choopan had a strong campaign in 2024, with victories in the Arnold Classic and Arnold Classic UK.

Choopan finished ahead of eventual winner Samson Dauda in both competitions, so it was a shock to him when he couldn’t win the gold at 2024 Mr. Olympia. “The Persian Wolf” is well-regarded for his incredible conditioning, massive legs, and dense muscles.
That was a hard loss for Choopan to take last year, so does he use it as motivation, or has he already reached his peak form in the past?
Samson Dauda (+225)
Dauda stunned Choopan with his standout physique and performance at 2024 Mr. Olympia. The Nigerian born Brit finished on top ahead of Choopan and Lunsford for the first Mr. Olympia championship to his name.
This was after Dauda came up just short to Choopan in the Arnold Classic earlier in the year. He managed to reach peak form in time for the showdown against Choopan in October. The “Nigerian Lion” became the first bodybuilder of Nigerian descent to clinch the title after finishing third in 2023.
It wasn’t a fluke win and there wasn’t any controversy for Dauda, who was much the best in terms of mass, conditioning, and was nearly perfect in his posing on stage. If Dauda shows up in similar shape, it’s going to be difficult for his rivals to topple him.

With his wife, Marlena, as his coach, the duo are poised to be the biggest threats in Las Vegas this weekend. He finished second in the 2025 Arnold Classic, but I don’t believe it’s going to deter him from reaching his best form of the year in October.
You can’t fault the value at +225 on the 39-year-old, who has skyrocketed up the ranks in the IFBB Pro League over the last few years.
Nick Walker (+375)
Is the 31-year-old American being overlooked at Mr. Olympia 2025? Walker has an opportunity to surprise a few people after being forced to withdraw in 2023 and 2024.
He was unable to compete due to injuries, but is back and could steal the crown at Resorts World. Walker placed third in 2022, and many pundits saw him as a future Mr. Olympia winner. However, then injuries derailed his chances the next two years, and other bodybuilders jumped into the spotlight.

Given his current form in 2025, I’m going to give Walker better than a puncher’s chance to lift the Sandow Trophy. Walker received his Mr. Olympia invite following a dominant performance in the New York Pro. He became a three-time winner of the event, which is the first bodybuilder to ever do so!
Walker is a slight sleeper Mr. Olympia betting pick, but if he can show up with a small waist, I wouldn’t be shocked to see him finish on top. It’s going to be tough for “The Mutant” to beat Dauda’s immense mass, though.
Derek Lunsford (+375)
Lunsford enters Las Vegas with plenty of momentum after defeating Dauda at the 2025 Arnold Classic. In addition to ousting Dauda, Lunsford took down Andrew Jacked, who garnered plenty of respect entering the contest.
It was a nail biter in the finals, with Lunsford edging out Dauda by a score of 7 to 8. He held a larger edge in the pre-judging round, 6 to 9, over Dauda. Conditioning is undoubtedly his strong point on the stage.

He has a smooth physique, and the top conditioning was the ultimate difference over Dauda. It was a deserving win for the 32-year-old American, who settled for a disappointing third place finish last year at Mr. Olympia.
I have Lunsford going down to the wire with Dauda in the finals, so at +375, he might be worth a look for betting on Mr. Olympia.
Mr. Olympia Prediction and Betting Pick
The scores at this year’s event are going to be tight. You could make a solid case for any of the four Mr. Olympia betting favorites! When it’s all said and done, though, Dauda should remain the man to beat this weekend in Las Vegas.
Dauda lost the Arnold Classic to Lunsford, but that event was seven months ago. I’m confident he used the time to reassess things and put full focus on preparing to defend his Mr. Olympia title. Dauda should be good to go and be at his best for this one.
Based on recent photos, Dauda should roll over the field when it comes to size and mass. He should also have the edge in symmetry and proportion on the stage. Will he have the conditioning required to get the job done? Lunsford looms large. That’s the big question.
In any event, I’m going to ride with Dauda to repeat at a price I find strong value at +225!
