2023 WWE SummerSlam Odds and Predictions

Summer Slam Detroit Aug 5

On Saturday, August 5, the premier professional wrestling event of the summer rolls into downtown Detroit as Ford Field will host the 2023 WWE SummerSlam event.

In the main event of the evening, The Bloodline drama between Roman Reigns and Jey Uso will come to a head. Reigns and Uso will meet in the first-ever Tribal Combat match for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. The Tribal Combat match includes no count-outs and no DQs.

Additionally, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship is up for grabs, as Seth Rollins defends his title in what should be a thrilling match versus Finn Balor. The WWE Women’s Championship Triple Threat Match should also be an exciting bout.

Let’s take a look at the latest WWE odds available at the top online betting sites and make our SummerSlam predictions.

WWE Singles Match

WRESTLERODDS
Ricochet+300
Logan Paul-500

Logan Paul returns to the WWE Universe for his seventh appearance in the squared circle. In his latest match, the flamboyant social media star lost to Damian Priest in a 7-way “Money in the Bank” match at the WWE Money In The Bank PPV on July 1.

This is scheduled to be the fourth singles match for Paul in his WWE career. Despite an entertaining fight, Paul was defeated by Seth Rollins in April at Wrestlemania 39. In his singles debut, he beat The Miz at SummerSlam 2022.

Following his win over The Miz, the WWE put him in the most predictable match of the year. Paul was lambasted by Roman Reigns at WWE Crown Jewel 2022 in Saudi Arabia.

WWE can’t have Paul beating Rollins and Reigns. Beating stars of their caliber is a reach. However, Ricochet looks like the perfect softball mid-card superstar for Paul to pick up a win. Triple H isn’t trotting out Paul at SummerSlam only to lose to Ricochet.

Ricochet is athletic, but having a superstar as uncharismatic as him wouldn’t make the most sense. His athleticism makes for a perfect pairing with Paul, and the favorite should prevail.

The Bet
LOGAN PAUL

WWE Singles Match

WRESTLERODDS
Ronda Rousey+425
Shayna Baszler-800

Ronda Rousey will take on her former tag partner at SummerSlam. Rousey and Shayna Baszler teamed up last August. They’ve been featured in several matches together, winning 17 of them and capturing the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles.

On June 23, Rousey and Baszler beat Alba Fyre and Islaw Dawn for the belts on Friday Night Smackdown. However, the Women’s Tag Team Championship reign didn’t last long, as Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez won the belts after Baszler betrayed Rousey.

This sets up Rousey and Baszler to meet at SummerSlam in Detroit. The SummerSlam odds suggest that this is going to be an easy win for Baszler. They recently met at a WWE Live SuperShow in Mexico, otherwise known as a house show, with Baszler winning via DQ.

Rousey took out the steel chair to inflict damage on Baszler before their meeting at SummerSlam. Unfortunately for Rousey, oddsmakers at BetUS have no confidence in WWE writers giving her the win. We agree, but at -800, there is little to no value on this bet.

The Bet
SHAYNA BASZLER

WWE Singles Match

WRESTLERODDS
Brock Lesnar+300
Cody Rhodes-500

Brock Lesnar steps into the squared circle for his sixth match of 2023. Always a big draw with wrestling fans, the WWE continues to pay Lesnar one of the largest contracts in the promotion. However, do fans really want to see Cody Rhodes vs. Lesnar again?

In what is likely one final chapter in the Rhodes and Lesnar saga, these two veterans will meet for the second time since May 27 at WWE Night of Champions. Lesnar defeated Rhodes with the Kimura Lock after he passed out from the submission.

Rhodes has not lost a match since losing to Lesnar in Saudi Arabia. In his most recent prominent match, Rhodes beat Dominik Mystery at WWE Money in the Bank on July 1. Expect the 38-year-old Georgia resident to come out on top.

There is no way that the WWE wants to milk this feud any longer. Lesnar winning would not be indicative of them wanting the storyline to draw to a conclusion, though. Consequently, the win has to go to Rhodes at Ford Field.

After Rhodes is finished with Lesnar, he could move on to face Reigns in the future. That would make more sense than extending the storyline between Rhodes and Lesnar. The way we see it, Rhodes should probably have -700 to -800 odds of winning at SummerSlam.

The Bet
CODY RHODES

WRESTLERODDS
Trish Stratus+275
Becky Lynch-450

Trish Stratus and Becky Lynch have not been officially confirmed for SummerSlam as of this writing. However, Lynch defeated Zoey Stark on a recent episode of WWE Raw to earn a rematch against Stratus. All signs point to Stratus and Lynch being confirmed on this week’s WWE Raw.

On May 27, 2023, at WWE Night of Champions, Stratus beat Lynch after the two lost the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles a month earlier to Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez. In the rematch between Stratus and Lynch, the hatchet will be buried at Ford Field.

Stratus has been a focal point of the women’s division since making her return to WWE last year. It is the first time she has been a full-time superstar in WWE since 2006. As a heel, Stratus has worked well against one of the most highly-regarded modern woman superstars.

The rivalry can’t end with Stratus winning. Is Stratus interested in being a full-timer for the foreseeable future? Probably not. It’s not like she has to get over with a second win over Lynch, either.

Lynch and Stratus should put together a pretty enjoyable match in this one. It makes little sense to have Stratus winning back-to-back matches over Lynch. Therefore, “The Man” likely has the edge at SummerSlam.

The Bet
BECKY LYNCH

WWE Intercontinental Title Match

WRESTLERODDS
Drew McIntyre+285
Gunther (c)-475

Austrian brawler Gunther will put his WWE Intercontinental title on the line, as he quickly approaches the Honky Tonk Man’s record for longest Intercontinental Championship reign.

Gunther has an old-school wrestling style that is resonating with Triple H and WWE management. He isn’t as flashy or athletic as some of the other top talent on the roster, but the brute force and physicality of Gunther make him one of the more believable wrestlers.

Can an old-school heel like Gunther thrive as a top guy in the business? WWE appears willing to push Gunther as a main-eventer in the future. Gunther would not be the first superstar to lose the Intercontinental title and then springboard into a bigger spotlight.

The Rock dropped the belt to Triple H at SummerSlam 1998 and became a household name shortly thereafter. That being said, Triple H and the WWE likely want to see Gunther break the Honky Tonk Man’s record. Also, Gunther still has some work to do before becoming a world champ.

Gunther recently passed Randy Savage with the third-longest Intercontinental Championship reign. If he keeps the belt until September 8, Gunther will break the record. Drew McIntyre is a physically imposing opponent that matches up well with Gunther.

Earlier this year, McIntyre and Gunther met in a Triple Threat Match at Wrestlemania 39 for the IC title. Now, they are one-on-one at SummerSlam in Detroit. If Gunther wasn’t close to breaking Honky Tonk Man’s record, I’d probably give this to McIntyre.

It is unlikely that WWE pushes Gunther this far only to lose the belt weeks before becoming the longest-reigning Intercontinental title holder. Expect Gunther to drop the belt later this year, and then possibly take a run at Reigns, Rhodes, or Lesnar next year.

The Bet
GUNTHER

WWE Women’s Championship Triple Threat Match

WRESTLERODDS
Charlotte Flair+175
Bianca Belair+250
Asuka (c)-125

The WWE Women’s Championship will be up for grabs in a Triple Threat match between Charlotte Flair, Bianca Belair, and Asuka. Asuka enters as the champ after Belair conceded the title at WWE Night of Champions in May.

Is anyone excited to see another Charlotte title reign? There aren’t many fans that will care to see Ric Flair’s daughter becoming a 15-time women’s champ.

She is a six-time RAW Women’s Champion and seven-time Smackdown Women’s Champion1. But, don’t worry, she may not have the title for long if she wins at SummerSlam.

Belair and Charlotte teamed up to beat Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville this past week on WWE Friday Night Smackdown. They will face each other in an attempt to take the belt from Asuka.

Regardless of who wins, Iyo Sky will cash in her Money in the Bank briefcase and have a shot at the WWE Women’s Championship. Would it work better against Asuka or Charlotte? Belair probably isn’t winning the belt, so we see Asuka or Charlotte winning here.

Charlotte is a perfect 5-0 in matches at SummerSlam2. She has thrived on one of the most prominent stages in pro wrestling. The creative team doesn’t have much else for Charlotte than winning the WWE Women’s Championship on and off.

As a quick placeholder, look for Charlotte to win and then drop it to Iyo not long after.

The Bet
CHARLOTTE FLAIR

WWE World Heavyweight Championship

WRESTLERODDS
Finn Balor+100
Seth Rollins (c)-140

At SummerSlam 2016, Finn Balor defeated Seth Rollins for the first WWE Universal Championship. He had to relinquish the belt right after due to an injury, though.

Seven years later and they are back in a showdown for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Rollins has been the WWE World Heavyweight title holder since defeating A.J. Styles at WWE Night of Champions.

Rollins has been the champ for over two months, which isn’t the longest of title reigns. He could hold onto the belt for much longer if WWE wants him to be the face of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

However, going into SummerSlam, there is a rumor that Rollins is dealing with an injury. If this is true, then the title has to change hands at SummerSlam. Rollins may very well need surgery for the injury, which would keep him on the shelf for the next few months.

With there likely being more truth to the injury than not, laying -140 odds on Rollins isn’t a sharp bet. And for Balor, losing three straight matches for the title would be devastating to his persona. Balor’s SummerSlam odds look like a top bet at Ford Field.

The Bet
FINN BALOR

WWE Undisputed Universal Championship Tribal Combat Match

WRESTLERODDS
Jey Uso+750
Roman Reigns-2000

WWE betting sites have Roman Reigns as a significant betting favorite to beat Jey Uso in this anything-goes Tribal Combat match at SummerSlam. That is to be expected.

As of this writing, Reigns has been the Universal Champion for 1,065 days3. WWE has cast Reigns as an unstoppable force.

However, at WWE Money in the Bank, Reigns was pinned for the first time in over three years. In the “Civil War” match, Reigns formed a tag team with Solo Sikoa, but Jey and Jimmy Uso combined to take them down.

It’s a push for Jey and Jimmy, but nothing that can compare to a win over Reigns for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship. Unfortunately, Jey is highly unlikely to pull it off at SummerSlam, though.

Jey getting a main event match at SummerSlam is an accomplishment in itself. However, Reigns should get his revenge after losing to Jey in the “Civil War”. Congratulations to Jey for getting this spot as a singles wrestler, but taking the belt off Reigns doesn’t do much for me.

Reigns getting pinned and losing the tag team match at Money in the Bank was a nice plot twist in The Bloodline storyline. With the shocking loss out of the way, Reigns will return to form and retain his Tribal Chief moniker over Jey.

The Bet
ROMAN REIGNS
