Best -500 Bets Today: Boost Your Parlay or Grab a Nice Single!

The best -500 bets today provide excellent opportunities to boost your parlay returns or go after a large single wager with a high probability.

I share my picks at around that price daily, usually targeting major US leagues, college sports, top European soccer leagues, and big tennis tournaments. My goal is simple: to find -500 bets that have a higher win probability of 83.3%.

Here’s a quick recap of the best bets available at -500 (or better) today, and you can find my reasoning for each wager below.

Best -500 Bets Today, August 21, Snapshot

I don’t want to be too pedantic, so I won’t share only -500 wagers: the target is to get good value bets on odds in the -400 to -500 range. Here’s what I have for today:

Reasoning for the Best -500 Bets Today, August 21

Here are the reasons I picked the wagers in the table above for today.

Brewers NOT to Score in the 1st vs Cubs (-435)

One of the worst teams in the MLB in 1st inning runs scored faces a very reliable pitcher, making this one an easy choice at -435!

The Brewers sit 25th in the MLB in runs scored in the first inning, with only 0.43. The team usually starts slowly, especially against competent pitchers.

They will face Shota Imanaga next, which is a problem. The Japanese pitcher has a solid 3.06 ERA and 0.95 this season, so he knows how to shut the opposition down. I expected to see something like -480 or lower for this market and I’m happy to take -435 instead.

The Bet
Brewers 0 Runs in 1st Inning
-435

Crystal Palace Over 1.5 Goals vs. Fredrikstad FK (-460)

Crystal Palace are too good for this tournament, especially for the qualifiers, but they were forced to play in the Conference League by UEFA because of ownership rules.

The team will be angry and ready to demolish the opposition in this one. Palace have the home advantage and in-form players like Mateta and Eze up front. They should dominate this game and score multiple goals against a team that’s nowhere near the same level.

Reaching the group stage will be pivotal for Palace from a financial standpoint, too. I expect to see the best of the team that beat Man City in the FA Cup Final, then beat Liverpool in the Community Shield, and drew Chelsea away from home in its last three official games.

The Bet
Crystal Palace Over 1.5 Goals
-460

What Are -500 Bets Good for?

-500 bets offer a 20% return and a high probability of winning, making them excellent choices for both parlays and single wagers.

You can boost your parlay wager by adding another selection without much risk. For example, imagine you have two legs already, but you’re not quite happy with the return. Adding a -500 wager will boost it by 20%.

Alternatively, if you want to place a single wager with a high chance of winning, targeting a -500 bet is also a good idea.

Both scenarios look great on paper, but you should consider the risks around -500 wagers.

How Safe Are -500 Bets?

The probability of winning a -500 bet is exactly 83.3% if the odds are fair. That means you will hit most of these wagers but not all of them, so bankroll management should still apply.

Furthermore, you should always try to find -500 bets with a higher probability according to your estimates. That’s what I’m trying to do in this post, using the odds of the best betting sites to find the most valuable -500 wagers daily.
