The British Open 2025 Sleepers and Dark Horse Picks: Ben Griffin Sneaky Longshot?

Collin Morikawa (+3000)

For our first British Open sleeper bet, 28-year-old Collin Morikawa is hard to ignore at +3000 odds! Morikawa isn’t having the season he’s been looking for in 2025. He’s largely been out of the hunt by the fourth round.

His best result was a runner-up in The Sentry and Arnold Palmer Invitational. Solid results for Morikawa, but he hasn’t done too much otherwise. That being said, Morikawa was able to record his first top 10 finish since March at the Rocket Classic in Michigan recently.

Additionally, Morikawa has replaced his long-standing caddy with Billy Foster. Foster has previously partnered with some big names on the PGA Tour since the 1980s, and Morikawa felt that a change was needed. He was Matt Fitzpatrick’s caddie for his US Open win in 2022.

It’s worth noting that Morikawa’s position on the leaderboard doesn’t necessarily line up with his stats, though. His metrics suggest that he’s been better than what has been depicted. Note that Morikawa is 7th on the PGA Tour in SG: Total, 10th in SG: Off the Tee, and 5th in SG: Approach to Green.

With some newfound confidence recently, look for Morikawa to get into a rhythm in Northern Ireland. While Morikawa isn’t regarded as a top favorite to win, he’s catching fantastic value as a longshot British Open pick at +3000!

Russell Henley (+5000)

Don’t expect Russell Henley to drum up much attention heading into The Open this year. Henley tends to go under the radar and sneaks up on the field when you least suspect it. The 36-year-old University of Georgia alum has discovered a hot swing as of late.

Henley was at his best in a close battle down to the wire in the Travelers Championship. While he was unable to pull out the win, he shot 14-under par to finish one stroke behind the winner, Keegan Bradley.

This was the third consecutive top 10 effort for Henley, which also included a T10 performance in the US Open. It may come as a surprise to many golf fans, but Henley is fourth in SG: Total!

Additionally, Henley ranks 12th in SG: Approach to Green and 8th in SG: Tee to Green. He’s having a much better season than the odds indicate, and at +5000, you can’t go wrong with a small play on Henley, one of the best The Open sleepers in 2025.

Ryan Fox (+8000)

Another golfer getting insane value to win the Open Championship to consider is New Zealand’s Ryan Fox. The 38-year-old veteran from Auckland has quietly been picking up this year. As the Scottish Open approaches, Fox has finished in the top 20 in four consecutive tournaments.

Fox’s top highlight was a win in the Canadian Open in a playoff over Sam Burns. He finished the round with an 18-under par to set up the showdown, ousting Burns by a stroke at Osprey Valley in Toronto.

Fox also had a solid showing in the US Open three tournaments ago at Oakmont Country Club. In the trickiest tournament of the year, which saw a 1-under par score win the event, Fox concluded the US Open in T19. Doing enough to make the cut was an accomplishment in itself!

The Kiwi has two wins on his resume in what has been a strong overall effort in 2025. Before winning the Canadian Open, Fox came out on top in the Myrtle Beach Classic in May. Since that performance, he’s managed to find another gear that wasn’t present in the early stages of this season.

Ranked 17th in SG: Total, Fox has been among the better golfers on the PGA Tour. Although defeating the best golfers in the world will be tough, at +8000, Fox is worth adding as one of your top British Open 2025 sleepers!

Ben Griffin (+9000)

There is a gem at BetOnline that bettors must know about before locking in their Open Championship underdogs! Ben Griffin is a standout option to look at here. Griffin’s implied probability suggests a measly 1.1% chance, but I afford him a higher percentage.

Griffin heads to Northern Ireland with some results to build on. After notching a T8 finish in the PGA Championship in May, Griffin has been in top form. He followed up to win the Charles Schwab Challenge on May 25, and then 2nd behind Scottie Scheffler in the Memorial Tournament a week later.

Instead of regressing, Griffin stayed hot with a T10 performance in the US Open. He’s played exceptionally well in majors this season and is unlikely to be intimidated by Royal Portrush.

In 2025, Griffin is 14th in SG: Total and 24th in SG: Tee to Green. None of Griffin’s results this season indicate he should be a massive +9000 longshot to win The Open!

In any event, it gives us a great opportunity to include Griffin on our list of best British Open sleepers.
