The Alvarez vs. Crawford odds favor the Mexican but also leave the door open for a surprise! With the details finally released, we are scheduled for a September 13, 2025, showdown in Las Vegas.
In this article, I explore the latest odds to win, analyze each fighter, and make my Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford predictions!
Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford Betting Odds
The following Canelo vs. Crawford odds are courtesy of BetOnline:
FIGHTER | MONEYLINE | TOTAL ROUNDS |
---|---|---|
Canelo Alvarez | -182 | Over 10.5 (-385) |
Terence Crawford | +159 | Under 10.5 (+306) |
According to the best boxing betting sites, Alvarez (-182) is the odds-on favorite to defeat Crawford (+159) this weekend. Since the Crawford vs. Alvarez odds were released in April, the “Brit Basher” has seen his price slide down slightly.
Alvarez opened as a -205 favorite and is now down to -182 with fight night approaching in Las Vegas. In other words, the 35-year-old Mexican’s implied probability has regressed from 67.2% to 64.5%. Alvarez remains well ahead in the betting markets, though some late Crawford money affords him more of a chance.
The total squarely points to a fight that goes the distance and to the judge’s scorecards. With a price of -385 on the over 10.5 rounds, there is a 79.4% implied probability that this fight isn’t going to feature a quick KO in the early stages.

Crawford has a slight height advantage and the reach advantage over Alvarez. The southpaw has used multiple tools to his advantage over opponents during his boxing career. Crawford is a 41-0-0 fighter with no blemishes on his record.
The 37-year-old is an aggressive counter-puncher with superior footwork. He utilizes weaving and shoulder rolling to keep his rival off-center. Although Crawford is a natural southpaw, he is capable of switching stance, making him one of the best in boxing at adapting to his foe’s strategy.
Additionally, Crawford’s lateral quickness has helped the native of Omaha, NE, stay one step ahead of fighters. That being said, is it enough to overcome the champ? Alvarez is a master at doing everything that Crawford can, but with stronger head movement and more power!
The 34-year-old Mexican can be described as an aggressive counter-puncher as well. He is solid off his back and front foot from mid-range. Alvarez doesn’t allow opponents to get too close, as he keeps excellent range.
Also, there aren’t many boxers as versatile as Canelo. He is fully capable of adjusting his approach from fight to fight, punishing any weakness shown by the opponent.
Let’s dissect both boxers next, to try and figure out who will win this one.
Canelo Alvarez (-182)
Alvarez holds all four major titles, including the super middleweight WBC, WBO, WBA, and IBF belts. “Cinnamon” has won in four different weight divisions, leaving little doubt who the most versatile current active boxer in the world is.
In his previous two bouts, Canelo proved that he isn’t falling off yet. While it was a seriously lopsided bout in relation to talent versus Edgar Berlanga, Alvarez put any doubters to sleep. He defeated Berlanga soundly, for his fifth consecutive win on September 14, 2024.

It was clear who was winning the bout early on, and pretty well a foregone conclusion after Alvarez scored a knockdown in the third round. Canelo has recorded at least one knockdown in three of his last four fights, including versus Jermell Charlo.
The strength is very much still present for Alvarez. He shouldn’t have to worry about losing any of his power at 34 years old, so Crawford will have to outsmart Alvarez. However, the Mexican champ can match Crawford’s game plan and do everything a little bit better.
Head movement and Alvarez’s chin certainly work out in his favor, too. While Jake Paul is calling out Alvarez, the Mexican still has enough in the tank to take down elite boxers. In his most recent bout, Alvarez did what was required to win, but some pundits might argue he lost a step.
Alvarez didn’t record a knockdown for the first time in four bouts and simply looked like a boxer going through the motions in a 12-round UD victory over William Scull.
However, with Alvarez likely already thinking about Crawford, I wasn’t expecting a classic performance from him.
Despite some concern from others, I won’t criticize Alvarez. I didn’t expect him to be fully motivated, and he did what he had to do to defend his titles. Look for a different Alvarez to be in the ring against Crawford.
Terence Crawford (+159)
Athleticism and conditioning are the name of the game for Crawford. He has elite defensive talents because getting a hand on him is tough. When Crawford is in top form, there isn’t another fighter who can move around the ring as fluidly as “Bud”.
That being said, Crawford is moving up two weight classes for this fight. Perhaps if the move was against a weaker fighter, there wouldn’t be as much concern with Crawford’s chances. However, jumping two weight classes to fight a boxer as sharp as Alvarez feels like a tough assignment.
He is coming off a win over Israil Madrimov via decision in August. It wasn’t a confidence-inspiring win for Crawford. He wasn’t nearly as active in the ring as we’ve seen in the past. The veteran seemingly went through the motions and just did the bare minimum to defeat Madrimov.
Crawford barely hung on for the win despite being a heavy favorite. It wasn’t the same guy we saw two years ago against Errol Spence Jr. In any event, Crawford advanced to a perfect 41-win streak, which dates back to his inaugural bout in 2008.

Additionally, like we saw with Alvarez, Crawford’s focus wasn’t entirely on Madrimov. His preparations for Alvarez have long been underway, and Madrimov was nothing more than an afterthought for his camp.
It was merely a warm-up fight. I’m not going to hold that effort against Crawford, but I think he has other things to worry about.
The only thing left for Crawford to do is to beat a boxer of Alvarez’s caliber. He has good wins, but his career resume needs a signature win to solidify his status as one of the best of all time. However, I am concerned with Crawford moving up in weight to fight Alvarez.
Crawford is best in the 150s or lighter, but he could be touching near 180 pounds on Saturday. He’s still a world-class fighter regardless of his weight — though he’s falling right into Alvarez’s wheelhouse here. Is he nimble and quick enough on his feet at this weight to outmaneuver a savvy fighter like Saul? That’s questionable.
Motivation and Intangibles
As the fight draws closer, motivation is going to be a key factor to consider for the fight before locking in your picks at sports betting sites. Let’s dive into the details before making our final Alvarez vs. Crawford predictions:
Alvarez – Driven to Remain the Best?
Legacy is on the line for Alvarez in this fight. If he falls to Crawford, there is always going to be this loss hanging over his head. Pundits will point to Alvarez losing against a heavy Crawford who isn’t in his proper weight class.
That has to be a motivating factor for Alvarez. Adding to his legacy with a win over Crawford would be a bow on an already Hall of Fame career. I expect that to play an important role in his preparations and mindset for “Bud”.
Alvarez could have passed on this fight and gone for a novelty bout against Paul. And, while I believe that will happen at some point in the future, he still has unfinished business to handle. Motivation shouldn’t be an issue for Alvarez in this match.
Crawford – Career Defining Performance?
There are a lot of things that Crawford has done spectacularly in his career. However, he’s never beaten a fighter close to Alvarez’s talent. This win is needed if Crawford wants to have his name stamped in the history books as one of the greatest.
Otherwise, Crawford will be known as a very good fighter who failed to get to the top of the mountain. Beating Alvarez has to be the only motivation Crawford needs for this fight. If he can’t get himself excited to fight the champ, then something is certainly off and a signal that his career is dwindling.
Also, a win will solidify Crawford’s ability to win in multiple weight classes. A lot of people doubt his chances after jumping up to super middleweight.
That has to be a motivating factor with the fight only days away in Las Vegas. While Crawford is up in weight, he’s looked in fantastic shape in camp and is taking this fight seriously. We’ll see if it’s enough for the upset!
Alvarez vs. Crawford Predictions and Betting Pick
Crawford is a natural 147-pound fighter. He is at his best at a lighter weight, where speed and agility are on full display. Lightweight is the ideal division for Crawford, so the public has the right to question how he will compete at 168 pounds!
Keep in mind that Crawford is 37 years old, so are you confident that he can jump divisions this far into his career and have success? Never mind that he’ll need to pull it all off against one of the best to ever do it. Alvarez has the size and strength advantage over Crawford in this super-fight. It should prove to be problematic for the American.
Crawford’s speed won’t be able to be used as well at super middleweight as we’ve seen in the past. Look for Alvarez to have all the answers and respond with a powerful counterblow often on September 13. I anticipated Alvarez to be a -350 favorite on the moneyline, presenting plenty of value at -182!
After Alvarez’s pedestrian win over Madrimov, money started to come in on Crawford. That said, neither boxer is coming off perfect performances in their latest bouts. Camp preparations for both of those fights were light.
I expect Alvarez to wear Crawford out and finish him in the later rounds. In short, Canelo is the right side to consider for your Alvarez vs. Crawford picks.
