Chelsea vs. Palmeiras Odds and Prediction

  • Chelsea to win (+105)
  • Palmeiras to win (+285)
  • Draw (+230)
  • Chelsea to qualify (-190)
  • Palmeiras to qualify (+155)

Chelsea outlasted Benfica, scoring three goals in the second half of extra time to put gloss on a 4-1 result. The Blues were also aided by a 92nd-minute red card to Benfica’s Gianluca Prestianni, but they also gave up a 95th-minute equalizer to Ángel Di María to send the game to extra time.

But it was a good sign that Chelsea got a great game out of Cole Palmer. The star midfielder had three key passes and created one big chance for his team, assisting on the fourth goal by Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Palmeiras also needed extra time to eliminate Botafogo 1-0 in an all-Brazilian Club World Cup Round of 16 matchup. Paulinho scored in the 100th minute as a substitute, then Palmeiras had to sweat out the last few minutes as Gustavo Gomez picked up his second yellow card. Paulinho replaced Estavao, the 18-year-old who was signed by Chelsea in a deal that could be worth $70 million.

Chelsea are the deserved favorites here, but it would be abjectly hilarious if they were eliminated by Estavao.

The loss of Gomez, however, might be too much to overcome for Palmeiras. That is a considerable miss for a defense that has allowed just two goals in the tournament.

On the other side of the pitch, Chelsea will be without impressive midfielder Moises Caicedo. But they can replace him with someone like Roméo Lavia, or Enzo Fernández can move back. The English side’s superior depth should help them in this clash, especially with Palmer finding some form when it matters the most.

I’ll take Chelsea to win this game at +105, as any wager on plus odds is excellent value here.

Chelsea to Win

Fluminense vs. Al-Hilal Odds and Prediction

  • Al-Hilal (+150)
  • Fluminense (+175)
  • Draw (+250)
  • Al-Hilal to qualify (-130)
  • Fluminense to qualify (+100)

Fluminense pulled off a shocker in the Round of 16, defeating Inter Milan 2-0 for a well-deserved victory. The Brazilians were saved by the goalposts on two occasions, but for the most part, Fluminense kept Inter at bay.

Goalkeeper Fabio made a couple of big saves, while Fluminense got goals from German Cano and Hercules. It was a disciplined performance by Fluminense, but their upset might not have been the biggest of the previous round!

Al-Hilal took out Manchester City in a thrilling 4-3 game, as Marcos Leonardo’s second goal in the 112th minute was the match-winner!

It was a counterattacking clinic by the Saudi Arabian team, who had 31% possession, but 17 shots, and most were quality chances. Goalkeeper Bono also made 11 saves, including eight inside the box for Al-Hilal, whose team is filled with players that have played in the big European leagues.

That pedigree gives Al-Hilal the edge in these Club World Cup quarterfinal odds, which are closer than you’d expect. But Fluminense has played very well in this tournament and would be great value for an upset.

Al-Hilal’s defense can be broached, allowing six goals in this tournament, and will likely have most of the ball. But I’m riding Fluminense to qualify at EVEN odds of +100, as I think extra time could be a possibility!

The Bet
Fluminense to Qualify

PSG vs. Bayern Munich Odds and Prediction

  • Paris Saint-Germain (+120)
  • Bayern Munich (+205)
  • Draw (+263)
  • PSG to qualify (-155)
  • Bayern Munich to qualify (+125)

PSG swatted aside Lionel Messi and Inter Miami 4-0 in the Round of 16, and it was complete domination. Joao Neves scored twice for the European champions, while Achraf Hakimi scored and Inter Miami’s Tomas Alives scored an own goal.

All of PSG’s goals came before halftime as they were eager to put the game to bed, and then start rotating players.

Bayern Munich jumped out to a 2-0 lead after nine minutes, and finished with a 4-2 victory over Flamengo to get to the Club World Cup quarterfinals.

An Erick Pulgar own goal and Harry Kane staked Bayern to the lead, while Kane scored another and Leon Goretzka notched for the German team.

However, there are some questions about Bayern’s defense. Jonathan Tah just joined the team from Bayer Leverkusen, and his partnership with Dayot Upamecano still needs some work.

That’s what gives PSG the nod in my Club World Cup quarterfinal predictions! Bayern has dominated PSG in their last six meetings, winning five of six, including a 1-0 win in the Champions League this past season.

However, this is a different PSG side that just won the Champions League in dominant fashion. The team will be motivated to win its FIFTH!!! trophy of the season, so let’s take PSG to win the game at +120 in our CWC quarterfinal picks!

The Bet
PSG to Win

Real Madrid vs. Borussia Dortmund Odds and Prediction

  • Real Madrid (-157)
  • Borussia Dortmund (+390)
  • Draw (+325)
  • Real Madrid to qualify (-335)
  • Borussia Dortmund to qualify (+230)

Real Madrid got Kylian Mbappé on the field for the first time in this tournament, but it was Gonzalo Garcia who scored to give Real a 1-0 win over Juventus. This was his third goal in the tournament, clearly showing the Spaniard is a worthy replacement of Real’s big star.

While he won’t displace Mbappé in the lineup full-time, Garcia has likely earned himself a spot with the first team, and we should see more of him during the La Liga season. Real Madrid are now the favorites to win their sixth title, according to the Club World Cup odds.

Borussia Dortmund got two first-half goals from Serhou Guirassy, then hung on for a 2-1 win over Monterrey in a tough match. Guirassy also has three goals in the tournament as Dortmund continues their fine form. T

he German team was fantastic down the stretch in the Bundesliga season, then topped Group F before their win over Monterrey. They’re underdogs in these Club World Cup quarterfinal odds, but they could give Real a game!

I’m still sticking with the Spanish giants in my Club World Cup quarterfinal predictions, however. Both teams can be scored on, but Real has more firepower at their disposal. They can still afford to bring Mbappé off the bench as he continues to recover from gastroenteritis.

New Real manager Xabi Alonso will also be very familiar with Dortmund from his time with Bayer Leverkusen, so he’ll know how to game plan for them.

Sadly, we won’t get the first edition of the “Bellingham Bowl”. Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham will play, but his younger brother, Jobe, picked up a yellow card against Monterrey and will miss the match.

I’m taking Real Madrid, but I’ll take their game odds here at -157, which is solid enough given the favorite’s attacking talent.

The Bet
Real Madrid to Win
