Gkolomeev’s record-breaking swim sets the stage for the first Enhanced Games in Las Vegas, but it doesn’t signal a flood of new world records.
He was one of the likeliest athletes to break a record: a 32-year-old with a strong track record, including gold at the 2024 European Championships and silver at the 2019 World Championships, even before openly using PEDs.
The overall slate of events is small, with four swimming, three track and field, and a few weightlifting contests, so the total number of realistic record opportunities is limited. Aside from Fred Kerley, most competitors aren’t truly elite, Olympic-level athletes at their peak, and even Kerley is past his absolute best.
Weightlifting might yield one new world record, but even that is uncertain given that athletes were already pushing supplementation rules before this meet. Hafthor Bjornsson could very well smash a world record if he’s on form, though.
Sportsbooks opened the line at 2.5 total world records for the 2026 Enhanced Games, later dropping it to 1.5. With only one world record realistically projected, betting the under 1.5 is viewed as one of the strongest Enhanced Games betting picks.

Kerley’s career-best time, set in 2022, is 9.76 seconds. That mark is already elite, but it still leaves him 0.18 seconds short of Bolt’s record. At this level of sprinting, closing that kind of gap is enormous, and it’s hard to project that level of improvement four years later.

Even with PED use in play at the Enhanced Games, I still expect Kerley to be slower than Bolt. The 100m is a discipline where tiny technical edges, including reaction time, drive phase, transition, and maximal velocity over a very short distance make all the difference. Bolt’s advantage in these areas, combined with his proven peak performance, sets a bar that remains extraordinarily high.
Right now, the only available market is on Kerley to break the record, at around +300. I don’t expect him to do it, and I’d need a much bigger price to consider backing that side. Instead, I’m waiting to see if books post a line on Kerley not breaking the 100m world record. That’s the angle I’d be more interested in, assuming the odds are reasonable.
