Best Bets for the Europa League Today, February 26 (With Reasoning)

Here are the detailed versions of my EL best bets for today, February 26.

Crvena Zvezda vs. Lille: Under 2.5 Goals (-104)

Crvena Zvezda’s run in the Europa League has been remarkable. The team was on its way out in the group state before winning four and drawing one in the last five games to secure a spot in the playoffs. The Serbian side then entered the clash against Lille as an underdog but won the opening match in France by 1-0.

It’s a small advantage, but it could prove to be enough against a Lille team that has struggled to score recently. The French club hasn’t scored a more than one goal in the same match since December 14, that’s a run of 12 games with very little to show for on the attacking end. That doesn’t bode well against a Zvezda team that has kept four clean sheets in the last five games.

On the bright side, Lille have allowed only three goals in their last six games. Their defense is the key to success here, as conceding even once could be the end of the road in the Europa League.

Given both sides’ defensive records and Lille’s struggles up front, this should be a tight game. I expected to see a main totals line set at 2.25 goals, so the -105 available for under 2.5 is one of the best Europe League betting picks today.

The Bet
Under 2.5
-105

Bologna vs. Brann: Bologna and Under 3.5 (+124)

Bologna took a nice 1-0 lead after the first leg against Brann, so the Italians need to simply avoid defeat at home to progress. They are favored in the second clash as well and should get the job done rather comfortably.

Brann have struggled big time offensively when they faced elite opposition in the Europa League so far. The team drew blank in the first leg against Bologna and also didn’t score against Fenerbahce, Sturm Gratz, and Bologna again in the group stage.

The Italians should be able to keep Brann at bay for the most part, and it’s not like Bologna is scoring a ton. The team has delivered five goals in the last six games in all competitions, failing to score more than once in any of them. If you add the fact that these two have met twice in the Europe League so far and only saw one goal scored, this should be another quiet one.

There are multiple bets to attack here. The most conservative one would be to back under 2.5 goals at -105, while the most adventurous is to go for Bologna to win and under 2.5 available for the amazing price of +270. I prefer the middle ground, though, so I’m happy to take the hosts and under 3.5 at plus odds.

The Bet
Bologna & Under 3.5
