Phoenix Mercury (-5.5) vs. Dallas Wings (-115)
The Mercury (12-6) are looking to snap a two-game losing skid, and their last game resulted in a 98-89 loss to the Wings (6-12) in Dallas on Thursday, July 3. The shorthanded Wings started four rookie players as Arike Ogunbowale (thumb), DiJonai Carrington (ribs), and Maddy Siegrist (knee) are all out.

But the kids played a fantastic game for the Wings, as Aziaha James had 28 points, six rebounds, and six assists. All-Star starter Paige Bueckers was next with 23 points, five assists, and four boards for the Wings, who also got a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double from Li Yueru. The Wings did an outstanding job to crash the glass, outrebounding Phoenix 38-26.

Phoenix were led by 33 points by Kahleah Copper, with All-Star starter Satou Sabally adding 20 points. All-Star reserve Alyssa Thomas had nine points, 10 assists, and seven boards for the Mercury, who shot 41.8% from the floor.
The Mercury outscored the Wings 26-9 in fast-break points. But strangely, they couldn’t handle the young Wings in the half court. Phoenix is fifth in defensive rating, and they’re a much better team on that end of the floor than they showed.
This will be the third meeting of the 2025 season for the two teams, as the Mercury won 93-80 in Phoenix. The Wings evened the score last Thursday, but I’m taking the Mercury to cover 5.5 points at home on Monday with odds of -110! The Wings are still missing their veterans, and I think the rookies will find it much tougher on the road against a Phoenix team out for revenge.
Neither team has played since Thursday, so both should be well-rested. I’m banking on Phoenix as a veteran team to shore up their mistakes from the last game against Dallas. Let’s take the Mercury to cover a 5.5-point spread tonight at home!
