Women’s Volleyball World Championship 2025 Odds

Here are the latest winner odds, courtesy of BetUS:

TEAM ODDS
Italy +115
Brazil +400
Turkiye +700
Serbia +800
China +1000
USA +1100
Poland +1200
Japan +1800
Netherlands +2400

Italy (+115) is the clear betting favorite to win the FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship. At +115 odds, Italy is in a tier of their own, with a 46.5% implied probability to win for the first time since 2002.

The Brazilian (+400) team is within striking distance and given a reasonable chance at the best volleyball betting sites. Currently, Brazil owns a 20% implied probability to capture their first FIVB world title after four runner-up finishes, including at the last tournament in 2022.

Aside from Italy and Brazil, there isn’t much confidence in the other nations. Turkiye (+700) has the third-best odds to win, which represents just a 12.5% implied chance of winning.

Women’s Volleyball World Championship Favorites

Three countries have a clear edge over the competition for the championship in Thailand. Before delving into my best 2025 Women’s Volleyball World Championship picks, find my analysis of the betting favorites:

Italy (+115)

Following a dominant showing at the 2024 Summer Games, Italy is considered the team to beat in Thailand. The Italians destroyed the competition with a perfect record in the Olympics, including a 3-0 win over Serbia, Turkiye, and the US in the gold medal match.

Italy brings back the core that made them such a formidable foe in Paris. Strong opposite hitter Paola Egonu is a difference-maker on the court and a weapon that other teams don’t have in this tournament. She stands above the rest and is going to be a spark plug for Italy.

Joining Egonu, 38-year-old veteran Monica de Gennaro is a steadfast performer for the Italian national team. She is a leader in the locker room and a consistent libero.

This team has both leadership and depth, so it will be very hard for anyone to stop the Italians.

Since June, Italy has been on a massive win streak with 12 consecutive victories! That includes a 3-0 and a recent 3-1 win over their biggest rivals, Brazil, in the Nations League. Italy is undoubtedly the biggest threat at the Women’s Volleyball World Championship!

Brazil (+400)

The only team with the potential to defeat Italy is the Brazilians. While Italy has surpassed Brazil over the last few years on the court, it would be foolish to write off this talented group.

Still, it will likely take a day off by Italy for the Brazilians to land a blow in Thailand. They’ve had success against every other country in the world that is in this tournament but can’t seem to solve Italy.

Brazil has won six of their previous seven matchups. Before facing Italy in the Nations League Finals, Brazil was on a six-match win streak, including against Poland. In June, Brazil had their biggest victory over the last two months over Turkiye, 3-1.

Thaisa Menezes’ retirement has certainly had an impact on Brazil’s outlook. In 2023, Menezes returned briefly to play in the Nations League and the 2024 Summer Olympics. Julia Bergmann affords Brazil is a solid offensive player, but the depth isn’t as potent as they had in past years.

However, Menezes’s presence has been deeply missed since her departure, and it will be felt again at the Women’s Volleyball World Championship. Gabriela Guimaraes and Adenizia Silvia are only capable of doing so much. Although Brazil has the second-shortest odds to win, I don’t see them as much of a threat to Italy’s chances.

Turkiye (+700)

Turkiye needs a lot to go their way to win the title, but they should beat up on inferior opponents. They need to get off to a quick start and collect some momentum because it was a rough ending to their Nations League campaign.

After winning four straight matches and five of six, they went 0-4 to close out the event. If there is any positive news that came from the losses is that Turkiye was competitive against Italy. They came up short in a 3-2 final on July 12, with a 15-11 loss in the final set sinking their match.

That should give the Turks some confidence going into this tournament at least. If anything, Turkiye is aware that they can hang with Italy after that performance. Are they going to be able to catch the favorites in such poor form, though? It might be tough for the Italians to come into a rematch against Turkiye so ill-prepared.

Turkiye came three sets short of Italy last April at the Olympics. Additionally, they were non-competitive in 3-1 losses to Brazil over their last two meetings. I’m not too optimistic about Turkiye’s opportunity here, but I expect them to reach the semifinals.

Best 2025 Women’s Volleyball World Championship Longshots

Italy and Brazil are the standout contenders to win this tournament. However, barring injuries or an unexpected twist, a long shot could sneak up and steal the gold. Two nations are worth considering for small plays in 2025:

  1. 1. USA (+1100)

It’s going to be difficult to contend with Brazil and Italy, but I don’t put the Americans that much further behind the rest of this field. They could comfortably beat most opponents in Thailand, and if there are a major injury or two to the top-tier squads, the Americans might be there to pick up the pieces.

Led by middle blocker Jaelyn Keene and outside hitter Tia Scambray, the USA has won five of their previous seven matches. They are coming off a hard-fought loss to China in three sets and a 3-0 defeat to Italy. Despite the loss to China, I have the USA slightly ahead on paper.

Italy must suffer a couple of injuries for Team USA to have a chance to knock them off, but for a small bet, they make sense at +1100.

  2. 2. Poland (+1200)

The Polish side is flying under the radar in this year’s tournament. Coming off wins in five of their last six matchups, Poland’s only loss in two months is against Italy. Like the rest of the world, it’s been difficult to figure out the Italians, but Poland has held up well otherwise.

With a record of 16-4 over their previous 20 matches, they’ve overwhelmingly been a fully competent volleyball squad. Despite getting hung up against Brazil and Italy, Poland has one of the best chances in this tournament to pull off an upset.

I only recommend going light on the units wagers, but there is top value at +1200.

Women’s Volleyball World Championship 2025 Predictions and Betting Pick

Italy is a giant step ahead of the rest of their rivals in this tournament. I don’t consider any other team too much of a threat to blocking their bid for the title at the Women’s Volleyball World Championship.

It’s going to require an injury or unforeseen circumstance for Italy to be thrown off the top of the mountain in Thailand. The trio of Egonu, de Gennaro, and Ekaterina Antropova should be too much to handle.

The No. 1-ranked team in the world is such a strong favorite for a reason. Italy is currently the most talented women’s volleyball team by a considerable margin. Getting the country at plus odds is a bargain for your 2025 Women’s Volleyball World Championship betting picks!
