NYC Mayoral Election 2025 Betting Preview: Odds & Predictions

As the NYC mayor’s race heats up and reaches the final bend, the 2025 New York mayor odds reveal a clear frontrunner. The odds point squarely in the direction of Zohran Mamdani, but is there a shocking upset in the works?

I explore the latest odds, analyze the best bets, and make my New York City mayoral election predictions.

New York City Mayoral Election 2025 Odds

The best political betting sites have various odds for the mayoral race in New York City in 2025. While the NYC election odds are huge in favor of Mamdani, there are other ways to cash in.

Let’s check out the winner prices and the other betting markets at BetOnline for the general election on Tuesday, November 4:

2025 NYC Mayor Election Winner Odds

Candidate Odds
Zohran Mamdani -2000
Andrew Cuomo +1000
Curtis Silwa +10000

34-year-old Zohran Mamdani (-2000) of the Democratic Party is a massive betting favorite to win the NYC mayoral election. At -2000, Mamdani is in control over the other candidates, as he holds a 95.2% implied chance to become the 111th Mayor of New York City.

It doesn’t look like there’s going to be much competition, but it wouldn’t be the first time that an upset has transpired in politics. Aside from Mamdani, former NYC mayor Andrew Cuomo (+1000) has the second-best odds to win the election.

Despite sitting in second, Cuomo is a longshot with a 9.1% chance. In any event, he is the only candidate with any hope to pull off the upset. Curtis Sliwa (+10000) has just a 1% implied chance, but he might as well be at 0%. Silwa is dead in the water and doesn’t make sense as an accurate pick for NYC election predictions.

Mamdani Vote Share % Odds

Vote Share Odds
50.00-54.99% +105
45.00-49.99% +200
55.00-59.99% +400
60.00-64.99% +600
40.00-44.99% +2000
65% or Higher +3000
Under 40% +6500

Per the latest 2025 NYC mayoral odds, Mamdani is favored to win the election by 50% to 54.99%. So, although Mamdani is overwhelmingly expected to be victorious on November 4, the odds don’t project a landslide.

Current mayor Eric Adams dropped out of the race in late September, so he won’t be there to split a portion of the votes with Silwa. That being said, Cuomo is expected to put up somewhat of a fight at the ballot boxes, given the voter share odds for this prop.

At +105, online bookies are affording Mamdani a 48.8% chance to win by 50% to 54.99%. The second most likely outcome is at 45% to 49.99%, while a 55% to 59.99% probability is being given longshot odds at +400 or 20%.

New York City Mayoral Election 2025 Candidates

Before delving into my NYC mayor predictions for the general election, let’s evaluate the remaining candidates on the ballot:

Zohran Mamdani (-2000)

The New York State Representative of the 36th district in NYC has the inside route to the mayoral seat in 2025. He is the heavy odds-on favorite with voters. The way I see it, if voters in NYC turn up to the polls, then he’ll win with relative ease.

However, if it’s a weak turnout, then Cuomo might be able to make things interesting. Mamdani has based his platform on speaking directly to low-income and middle-class residents. In a city with exuberant housing costs, Mamdani has claimed he wants to make expenses cheaper for families.

According to Mamdani, he will do so by freezing regulated rents through a four-year program on New York City’s roughly one million rent-stabilized apartments. The initiative would immediately pause rent increases for the next four years.

Additionally, Mamdani strives to build 200,000 affordable housing units in the city. To help pay for the new housing, the 34-year-old Ugandan born politician intends to raise taxes on high-income earners and corporations. He also has an ambitious plan to raise the minimum wage to $30.00 per hour by 2030.

Mamdani has put an added emphasis on improving public transportation as well. Most notably, he has proposed free bus rides as part of his platform. While it remains to be seen whether any of these progressive politics would be effective, it is resonating with voters.

The latest general election polls afford Mamdani a margin of victory from +11 (Patriot Polling) to +24 (Beacon Research/Shaw & Company Research).

Andrew Cuomo (+1000)

The 56th Governor of New York State has thrown his hat into the political arena after being forced to resign due to sexual assault allegations in 2021. Last year, the Department of Justice revealed that Cuomo had sexually harassed 13 women who worked for the state over eight years.

Nevertheless, it didn’t deter Cuomo from running for mayor of New York City. The scandal has followed him around during campaigning and has made the 67-year-old an easy target for his political opponents. The controversy has provided Mamdani with endless material to attack Cuomo on.

In response, Cuomo has largely targeted Mamdani for being soft on crime. President Donald Trump has called Mamdani a communist, while Cuomo hasn’t shied away from claiming Mamadi’s policies are based on socialism.

In April, Cuomo had a firm grip on the mayoral race — he was leading every poll, but has squandered the lead away and needs a Hail Mary to win the election. Cuomo’s strategy largely focused on criticizing Mamdani’s proposed policies. Some of his ideas to improve the city are similar in nature, though.

Cuomo has acknowledged that there needs to be more affordable housing and more affordable transportation. Additionally, he wants to make it easier for residents to find cheaper healthcare.

Cuomo and Mamdani differ on crime, though, with the former governor interested in hiring more NYPD officers and supporting them with more bonuses and incentives.

On the contrary, the NYC police union has been critical of Mamdani, including a staffer who was recorded on a hidden camera saying, “Who gives a s—t”, in response to a question on what cops think about Mamdani.

It’s still going to be tough for Cuomo to win, so it’s difficult to recommend him for your New York mayoral election betting picks.

Curtis Sliwa (+10000)

Spoiler alert: Silwa has zero chance of winning the general election in NYC. While he isn’t interested in dropping out of the race despite bleak poll numbers, Sliwa can give it up now.

I give Cuomo a small chance of winning, but Sliwa doesn’t have any magic tricks up his sleeve to pull this one out. The conservative American talk show host recently seemingly quit his job on the air after facing pressure to bow out.

A member of the Republican Party, Silwa is up against a big wall in a Democratic stronghold. The 71-year-old is drawing bleak numbers in polls and doesn’t stand much of a chance against either candidate.

Silwa is a highly opinionated and fiery character who isn’t shy about speaking his mind. The CEO of Guardian Angels, a nonprofit to combat crime in the city, is the most vocal surrounding support for police and a law-and-order approach.

He has supporters, but not nearly enough to put a dent into the race. Sliwa’s chances are next to impossible now.

New York City Mayor Election 2025 Predictions and Betting Pick

The odds for the NYC mayoral election give Cuomo little chance against Mamdani. I give Cuomo a puncher’s chance, but it’s very faint. Mamdani should have the election locked down.

He has managed to get the attention of voters, especially lower-income people who make up a large demographic in the city today. Roughly one in four New Yorkers lives in poverty, which translates to a little over two million residents. Mamdani has also dominated the younger voter class, with a wave of new voters interested in backing his campaign.

Mamdani is going to win, but how big is the gap going to be? I am optimistic that Cuomo can put up a slight fight in this election. There is a group of voters that will vote for Cuomo simply because they can’t back Mamadi’s far left policies.

This should lead to a relatively close voter share in the final numbers. Mamadi is winning, but at 53% to 54% of the share, it might be closer than some pundits anticipate! In short, I suggest forgoing betting on Mamdani at -2000 odds and playing him to win by a voter share of 50% to 54.99% instead.

Zohran Mamdani (50-54.99%)
+105
