Olympic Cross-Country Skiing odds offer an entertaining opportunity to wager on a unique winter sport. Norway dominated these events in 2022, taking home nearly half of the gold medals on offer. Can Norway run the table again, or will another country take the top spot?

Let’s check out the favorites in the latest odds, before I highlight my best Olympic Cross-Country Skiing predictions for the 2026 Winter Games in Italy.

Norway won five of the 12 gold medals in Cross-Country Skiing in 2022, the most of any country. So, it is not surprising that Norwegian athletes dominate the odds for this year’s events at the top Winter Olympic betting sites.

The Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) earned four of the other seven gold medals. With the ROC not participating, other countries must step up to prevent an even more dominating performance by Norway this time around.

Men’s Skiathlon Odds and Prediction

Athlete Odds
Johannes Høsflot Klæbo (NOR) -250
Harald Østberg Amundsen
(NOR)
+600
Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget (NOR) +700
Emil Iversen (NOR) +1600
Federico Pellegrino (ITA) +2000
Gus Schumacher (USA) +3000
Mika Vermuelen (AUT) +3000
Edvin Anger (SWE) +4000
William Poromaa (SWE) +4000
Iivom Niskanen (FIN) +5000

Norway’s Johannes Høsflot Klæbo is the -250 favorite to win gold in the Men’s Skiathlon. The 30K race did not go well for the five-time Olympic gold medalist in 2022. He finished 40th, making the skiathlon the only event he completed without winning a medal.

Fellow Norwegians Harald Østberg Amundsen (+600), Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget (+700), and Emil Iversen (+1600) are also listed in the top four. None of them competed in this event at the 2022 Winter Games.

Italy’s Federico Pellegrino has the best odds of any skier not from Norway at +2000, but I don’t think he can beat the Scandinavians.

I was surprised to see Finland’s Iivo Niskanen listed at +5000. He might be past his prime, but three-time Olympic champion is still a great underdog bet. He finished third in this event in 2022, behind the ROC’s Alexander Bolshunov and Denis Spitsov.

The Russians won’t be there this time around, whine Niskanen should be competitive once again. He might be a long shot, but the odds are just too high to ignore.

The Bet
Iivo Niskanen (FIN)
+5000

Women’s Sprint Classic Odds and Prediction

Athlete Odds
Jonna Sundling (SWE) +180
Kristine Stavås Skistad (NOR) +300
Linn Svahn (SWE) +425
Nadine Fähndrich (SUI) +800
Jasmi Joensuu (FIN) +900
Johanna Hagstrom (SWE) +1100
Maja Dahlqvist (SWE) +1400

The Women’s Sprint could also be a prime spot for an upset. Defending Olympic champion Jonna Sundling is the +180 favorite to win another title.

Sundling made her Olympic debut in 2022, medaling in three of the four events she competed in. She also has seven golds at the World Championships to her name, including three straight in the Sprint.

Kristine Stavås Skistad (NOR) and Linn Svahn (SWE) round out the top three at +300 and +425, respectively. Nadine Fähndrich (SUI) is a distant fourth at +800.

One dark horse who can derail Sundling’s title defense is fellow Swede Maja Dahlqvist. She is listed at 14-1 odds to win gold in the Sprint after finishing second in 2022. Dahlqvist was just +2.88 behind Sundling and has had four years to prepare for another showdown on the Olympic stage. I expect another strong run from her, so the value is on the underdog.

The Bet
Maja Dahlqvist (SWE)
+1400

Men’s 50K Mass Start Odds and Prediction

Athlete Odds
Johannes Høsflot Klæbo (NOR) +110
Martin Loewstroem Nyenget (NOR) +200
Mattis Stenshagen (NOR) +700
Iivo Niskanen (FIN) +750
Emil Iversen (NOR) +850

Norway is a heavy favorite to win the Men’s 50K Mass Start in 2026. Høsflot Klæbo is the +110 favorite, followed by fellow Norwegians Martin Loewstroem Nyenget (+200) and Mattis Stenshagen (+700).

Iivo Niskanen is the only non-Norwegian in the top five at +750, followed closely by Emil Iversen (+850).

Alexander Bolshunov and Ivan Yakimushkin took home gold and silver in 2022, but neither is competing in Italy as the ROC will not be represented. Artem Maltsev and Denis Spitsov, who also finished in the top six while representing the ROC in 2022, will not be competing either.

Høsflot Klæbo did not finish this event in 2022, but he is a great bet to win gold this time around. He is a five-time Olympic gold medalist and has won 15 gold medals at the World Championships.

The 2025 World Championships proved Høsflot Klæbo’s dominance. He won gold in all six events he competed in, including the mass start. Getting plus odds on him is very tempting, so that my betting pick for the 50k mass start.

The Bet
Johannes Høsflot Klæbo
+110
