Washington Mystics (-1.5) vs. Los Angeles Sparks (-110)

The Mystics (11-10) have rattled off three wins in a row after a 74-69 win over Seattle on the road on Sunday. Brittany Sykes scored 10 of her 19 points in the fourth quarter for the Mystics, who outscored the Storm 27-14 in the final stanza. The Mystics have been on a roll, and it’s due to a stifling defense that has ranked first in defensive rating over the last five games of the season. However, they’re dead last in the WNBA in offensive rating over those same five games.

The Sparks (7-14) are coming off a 92-88 win over Connecticut at home, also on Sunday. Kelsey Plum had 23 points, while Azura Stevens added 21 points and 11 boards for the Sparks, who have won two of their last three games. The Sparks are the complete opposite of the Mystics, as Los Angeles is second in offensive rating over the last five games, but 12th out of 13 teams in defensive rating.

Washington is favored by 1.5 points on the road on Tuesday night, and this is the first meeting of the season between the two. The Mystics are 6-4 ATS (against the spread) on the road this season, while the Sparks are a miserable 1-7 ATS at home. But I’m leaning towards taking defense over offense, and going with the Mystics tonight. Sykes and Sonia Citron can go toe-to-toe with Plum and Dearica Hamby offensively, while Stevens and Washington’s Kiki Iriafen will be a fun matchup in the post.

But give me the team that I think can get a stop when they need to, and that’s Washington. I’ll take the Mystics to cover 1.5 points on the road with odds of -110!

The Bet
Washington Mystics -1.5
