MNF Football Prediction and Betting Pick: Buccaneers vs. Texans
The Buccaneers and Texans headline the early matchup at NRG Stadium on Monday Night Football. Neither team had a confidence-inspiring performance in Week 1.
The Texans came up short in a 14-9 loss to the Rams on the road, while the Buccaneers needed all four quarters to eke out a 23-20 win over a mediocre Falcons squad.
The Buccaneers had a lot of concerns entering the season with a makeshift offensive line, and those issues were magnified in Week 1. The absence of LT Triston Wirfs was evident against the Falcons in the season opener. Buccaneers’ QB Baker Mayfield passed for three touchdowns, but on just 17/32 passing and 167 yards.
Additionally, Mayfield was the leading rusher for the Buccaneers! He finished with 39 yards on five carries, so that is not a good sign going on the road against a much better Texans’ defense. Along with the offensive line, WR Chris Godwin remains out for Tampa.
Under head coach DeMeco Ryans, the Texans have transformed on the defensive side of the ball.

Last year, the Texans finished second with 307.5 yards against per game in the NFL. They were especially tough to pass on, with just 200.3 passing yards allowed. Houston got off to a fast start, conceding just 14 points to Matthew Stafford and a quality Rams’ offense. The offense was stuck in mud, but they should step up in primetime at home.
In any event, I don’t believe Texans’ QB CJ Stroud and the offense have to be perfect. The defense should win this game. Expect Ryans’ defense to feast on the porous Buccaneers’ offensive line to give Stroud prime field position often. In short, lay the points for your Week 2 MNF best bets!
MNF Football Prediction and Betting Pick: Chargers vs. Raiders
The Chargers and Raiders will look to stay in the win column after an impressive opening effort in Week 1. In a dominant showing, the Chargers upset Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in Brazil, 27-21.
On Sunday, the Raiders flew cross-country to Foxborough to knock off the New England Patriots in a 20-13 victory. They had the privilege of playing the Patriots without their CB1, Christian Gonzalez, but it was still a solid effort to go to the East Coast to spoil Mike Vrabel’s head coaching debut.
The Raiders are turning things around, but the Chargers have Super Bowl aspirations in Jim Harbaugh’s second season. This is one of the most complete rosters in the NFL on both sides of the ball. Harbaugh has made an immediate impact to change the Chargers into a hard-nosed football team.
They are fast and physical on the defensive side, and Harbaugh is credited with putting them in this position. In 2024-25, the Chargers were 11th with 330.2 yards allowed per game, for a jump from 28th and 362.9 yards a season earlier! They could very well be a top 5 defense this season.
The Chargers limited Mahomes to 258 yards passing, and he was the leading rusher with 57 yards on six carries! The Raiders need rookie RB Ashton Jeanty to get going, but I suspect the Chargers have an answer.
Raiders’ QB Geno Smith can’t win this game with his arm alone. I feel much more confident in the Chargers’ QB Justin Herbert, who should have success.

Las Vegas’ offensive line was bad despite beating the Patriots. Jeanty had no holes to run through against the Patriots, and it’s only going to get worse versus a stronger Chargers’ defense. Smith is an upgrade over Aidan O’Connell, but first-year Raiders’ OC Chip Kelly has implemented a new scheme, and it may take time to gel.
Look for the Raiders to hang around in the home opener in primetime, but the Chargers should pull away for an eight-point win to cover the spread!

The Buccaneers are likely going to struggle to reach 15 points, let alone beating the Texans there. They may score 16 or 17 points, but not before the Texans already hit that threshold.
Texans’ center Jake Andrews will miss this week, but the Bucs are unlikely to fully exploit the mismatch. Note that Stroud went 9/10 under pressure and 10/10 against the blitz against the Rams, so he has a quick trigger that counters the Bucs’ pass rush.

They are among the best teams in the NFL, and everyone will likely realize this by October. So, the way I see it, the 3-point spread is a gift here from oddsmakers. It’s a divisional rivalry matchup, which can be tricky on the road, though the Chargers should prevail by at least a touchdown.

The Texans’ offensive line woes are evident, but look for Stroud to get the ball out of his hand quickly and target Collins. He has 15 touchdowns over the last two years and is Stroud’s clear No. 1 weapon.
Collins’ anytime touchdown bet is a strong prop at +180!
Longest Pass Completion: Justin Herbert (LAC) Over 35.5 (-120)

Herbert’s longest pass prop is on the short side for the Chargers’ matchup against the Raiders. I expect Herbert to connect for at least a 40-yard completion, so 35.5 yards feels a bit too low.
Herbert chewed up a solid Chiefs’ defense for 318 yards and three touchdowns. Three receivers finished with at least 68 yards, and Herbert found eight different receivers in the big win in Brazil.

The Raiders don’t offer as much defensive talent, and I’m not confident in the secondary holding up any better. Herbert is likely to have even more explosive plays downfield at Allegiant Stadium. I suggest the over 35.5 long pass prop on Herbert.

The Raiders’ sixth overall pick from the 2025 NFL Draft didn’t have a glowing performance in his debut. He was held to 38 yards rushing on two yards per carry. The Boise State product also collected two passes for two years against the Patriots.

The Patriots were ready, and the Chargers are going to be prepared for Jeanty as well. Las Vegas wants to run its offense around Jeanty, but it’s going to be difficult with the offensive line.
It isn’t a reflection of Jeanty’s talent. More so, the Raiders’ inept offensive line that can’t run block. I don’t see how Jeanty breaks out against a stout and well-disciplined Chargers’ defense.
