Giannis next team odds could be the most popular betting market of the summer! The Milwaukee Bucks were eliminated in five games by the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the NBA playoffs. The Bucks’ future looks bleak, and now their superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo, might have to make a decision.
I’ll examine the Giannis next team odds and look at the favorites, a couple of contenders, and one sleeper that could enter the conversation. You’ll also get my prediction and betting pick at the end of this article!
TEAM | GIANNIS NEXT TEAM ODDS |
---|---|
Brooklyn Nets | +300 |
Houston Rockets | +400 |
Oklahoma City Thunder | +500 |
Orlando Magic | +700 |
Golden State Warriors | +800 |
Miami Heat | +1000 |
Portland Trail Blazers | +1200 |
Utah Jazz | +1400 |
New York Knicks | +1600 |
Brooklyn (+300) has emerged as the favorite at NBA betting sites with an implied chance of 25% to land the two-time MVP. Houston (+400) is next with an implied probability of 20%, and Oklahoma City (+500) comes in with an implied chance of 16.7% to add Antetokounmpo to an already loaded roster. All three of these teams have a mix of assets and draft picks that Milwaukee could use to retool their team.
There are a few other teams in the mix, such as Orlando (+700), Golden State (+800), Miami (+1000), Portland (+1200), Utah (+1400), and New York (+1600). There are also some sleepers looking further down the board in the Giannis next team odds, like San Antonio (+2500) and the Los Angeles Lakers (+3300). Both of these teams have implied win probabilities of 3.8% and 2.9%, respectively. However, you still can’t count them out for various reasons, which I will get into below!
You can find the Giannis next odds at BetOnline by heading to Sports > NBA > NBA Specials > Next Team.
Why Would Giannis Antetokounmpo Leave Milwaukee?
The Bucks drafted Antetokounmpo with the 15th pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. He started 23 games as a rookie, but it wasn’t until his fourth season that Antetokounmpo blossomed. Since 2018, Antetokounmpo has been in the top six of the NBA MVP voting, and won the award in 2019 and 2020. The Greek superstar also led Milwaukee to an NBA title in 2021, when he was also named Finals MVP.
Since then, there hasn’t been much playoff success for Antetokounmpo and the Bucks. They won their first-round series in 2022 against Chicago, but they haven’t won a series since. The Bucks also traded Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton away, and fired title-winning coach Mike Budenholzer.
They got Damian Lillard in the Holiday trade, and it hasn’t worked out on the court the way many thought it would. Now, Lillard might miss all of next season as he tore his Achilles in Game 4 of Milwaukee’s first-round loss to Indiana.
Antetokounmpo was frustrated after losing to the Pacers, getting into it with Bennedict Mathurin and the father of Indiana guard Tyrese Haliburton. But this frustration has been brewing for a while, although he has yet to request a trade as of April 30. It might be best for both sides if Antetokounmpo leaves to go for another title. The Bucks would also get a massive haul for Antetokounmpo, unlike Dallas got for Luka Dončić in the Lakers’ trade.
The Favorites to Land Giannis
The Giannis Antetokounmpo next team odds have these teams at the top of the list. With all due repsect to Orlando, I don’t think they have the assets to make a move.
Brooklyn Nets (+300)
The Nets are always in trade rumors because of the sheer amount of draft picks they have. They have four first-round picks alone for the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft, including a lottery pick after a 26-56 season. They also have the Knicks’ first-round unprotected picks in 2027, 2029, and 2031, and a 2027 first-rounder from Philadelphia. Furthermore, they also have the third-most salary cap space in the NBA for next season.
Giannis Antetokounmpo reportedly enjoys New York, owns multiple businesses there, and is reportedly viewed by the Brooklyn Nets as a ‘prime target,’ per @NYPost_Lewis pic.twitter.com/S0pxgT3jyd

Brooklyn also has some players the Bucks would want, such as Cam Thomas and Cam Johnson. Nic Claxton could also be involved. But that doesn’t leave much for Antetokounmpo to work with, although the Nets could potentially entice a free agent to join him.
The choice might not be up to Antetokounmpo, although the Bucks will probably want to work with their star to send him to a preferred location. But I’m also not sure the Nets are deserved favorites in these Giannis next team odds.
Houston Rockets (+400)
The Rockets should be the favorites here, in my opinion. They have Phoenix’s first-round picks in 2025, 2027, and 2029, as well as their own in 2028, 2030, and 2031. They can also offer better players to Milwaukee, such as some combination of Alperen Sengun, Jalen Green, Amen Thompson, Tari Eason, and Jabari Smith Jr.

The Rockets wouldn’t have to give up all of those players, which leaves Antetokounmpo some talent to work with. Fred VanVleet’s $44.5 million next season is a club option, and the Rockets could either trade that away, or let him walk, so they’ll have money to spend. Houston has made a considerable jump over the last two years, but they’re just missing a scorer, someone to go to late in games. Antetokounmpo would be the cure for that.
I love their Giannis next team odds, but the following team can also offer Milwaukee a lot.
Oklahoma City Thunder (+500)
It’s almost not fair that OKC, the favorites in this season’s NBA Championship odds, could get involved. They also have the favorite in this season’s NBA MVP odds, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. But the Thunder also has a ton of draft picks, including their first-rounders from 2028 to 2031, along with pick swaps from 2025 to 2027, and a slew of second-round picks.
How’d I’d react if the OKC Thunder…
Lost in first round: Devastated. Inconsolable. Shutting my phone off for a week.
Lost in second round: Panic. Trade for KD. Giannis. Somebody.
Lost in conference championship: Very disappointed. But don’t panic, stay the course.

The Thunder also have several players they could trade. “SGA” is probably off the table, and maybe Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren, although the Bucks would try to get one of them. But OKC has Aaron Wiggins, Lu Dort, Jaylin Williams, Cason Wallace, and others. Oklahoma City could manage to keep their top players with all the draft capital they’d trade away. This would also be a terrific situation for Antetokounmpo.
If I were other teams, I’d be worried about the Thunder’s Giannis next team odds because it’s a real possibility, especially if OKC doesn’t win the title this season.
Golden State Warriors (+800)
The Warriors should also be considered in these Giannis next team odds as they might not be able to rival the other teams in young talent. However, they have all of their draft picks from 2026 to 2031, and they have some youth they could send to Milwaukee.
IMO If Golden State wants to give Steph a real shot at a 5th/6th ring…Dray gotta go in a trade for Giannis. Along with Kuminga Moody and picks.
Steph, Jimmy, Giannis.— Presto P (@PrestoP26) April 30, 2025
I don’t know if they would ever trade Draymond Green, but the Warriors could send Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, Brandin Podziemski, and Buddy Hield to Milwaukee. They’ll want to keep Jimmy Butler, and a team with Stephen Curry, Butler, Green, and Antetokounmpo would be a force. They’re all over 30, so it would be the ultimate win-now move.
But keep an eye on Golden State’s Giannis next team odds as it would be an attractive destination for the two-time MVP.
The Contenders
These two teams will have to give up a lot, and potentially get more teams involved to make a trade for Antetokounmpo happen. But it’s not off the table for either team.
Miami Heat (+1000)
The Heat were embarrassed in the first round by Cleveland, getting swept by the largest four-game point margin in NBA history. Miami president Pat Riley isn’t someone who would tank his team, but it’s obvious that the Heat have to do something in the offseason to even compete in the Eastern Conference.
Bucks need young talent and picks.

The Heat and Antetokounmpo have been circling each other for years now, but their hands might be forced at this moment. Miami could send Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez, and Duncan Robinson, among others, as they would want to keep Bam Adebayo. But the Heat don’t have as much draft capital as the above teams as they don’t own this year’s first-rounders, although they have their own in 2026, 2027 (if it’s in the lottery, which it could be), 2029, 2030, and 2031.
Look for the Heat to be aggressive this summer, and landing Antetokounmpo would be a gigantic shift in the Heat’s future!
New York Knicks (+1600)
The Knicks have even fewer draft picks than Miami as they traded their 2025, 2027, 2029, and 2031 first-rounders (and two pick swaps) to Brooklyn in the Mikal Bridges deal. But it’s New York, and you also have to factor in the lure of playing in Madison Square Garden.
Giannis is about to request a trade and the Knicks sent the control of 6 first round picks for a player that averages 14.4 PPG in the playoffs on 42% from the field and 33% from 3
— Marshall Green (@MarshallGreen_) April 30, 2025
The Knicks could also send some combination of Bridges, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, and Josh Hart the other way. Pairing Antetokounmpo with Jalen Brunson wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world, but it also depends on how much New York would have left in the cupboard.
At +1600, their Giannis next team odds offer a stellar return. It would take some maneuvering, but the Knicks could make it work.
The Sleepers
These two teams are menacing sleepers in the Giannis next team odds for the rest of the league. One team has more of a realistic chance of making it happen, while the other can never be counted out of making a big trade!
San Antonio Spurs (+2500)
This should absolutely terrify the NBA. Pairing Antetokounmpo with Victor Wembanyama would be incredible. The Spurs have all of their first-round picks until 2031, except for 2027, which they sent to Sacramento in the De’Aaron Fox trade.
.@getnickwright proposes two trade packages for Giannis Antetokounmpo:
(1) Rockets: Alperen Sengun, Reed Sheppard, Jock Landale, 4 1st round picks
(2) Spurs: Stephon Castle, Harrison Barnes, Keldon Johnson, 5 1st round picks pic.twitter.com/KMzj0fFZYM
— What’s Wright? with Nick Wright (@WhatsWrightShow) April 30, 2025
San Antonio also has Rookie of the Year winner Stephon Castle, as well as anyone on their roster not named Wembanyama or Fox. It would be a massive swing by the Spurs, but Antetokounmpo could mentor “Wemby” as they’re both from Europe. Antetokounmpo could also bang in the post, while the 7’4″ Frenchman continues to play on the perimeter. Good luck trying to score at the rim with those two.
The Spurs’ Giannis next team odds offer a sizable return, and I think they’re being undervalued here.
Los Angeles Lakers (+3300)
The Lakers can offer less than any team on this list. But it’s the Lakers. Do you want to count them out after the Doncic trade?
Giannis was asked about the Luka trade and said his dream is for all the European stars to go to all the big markets ⭐️👀
“I want Luka to Lakers. I want Jokic to Knicks. I want all the Europeans to go to the big markets.”

— Bleacher Report (@BleacherReport) February 3, 2025
The Lakers have their own first-rounders in 2026, 2028, 2030, and 2031, which isn’t a bad haul. They could also send Austin Reaves to Milwaukee as they might not be able to afford his next contract anyway. The Lakers could also throw in anyone but Doncic and LeBron James. This would also help the Lakers continue their post-LeBron plans as James is 40, although he doesn’t appear to be slowing down.
Again, it’s the Lakers. I’ll never count them out of a trade for anyone, ever.
Giannis Next Team Prediction and Betting Pick
I do think both Antetokounmpo and the Bucks need to seriously consider parting ways. This team isn’t winning a NBA championship any time soon. They also don’t have any draft capital left, so they can’t attract anyone else to join Antetokounmpo. Lillard is likely out for next season, and probably won’t be the same player when he returns.
The Houston Rockets have the draft capital, youth that they could trade, but still keep players to team with Antetokounmpo. They also have a coach in Ime Udoka that Antetokounmpo respects. I think Golden State and the Lakers should also be considered, but I’m rolling with the Houston Rockets at +400 as my betting pick here!
