KT Wiz vs. Samsung Lions: Samsung (-150)
After rain canceled the series opener between the KT Wiz (34-31-3) and Samsung Lions (36-30-1) yesterday, the teams are back at Daegu Samsung Lions Park on Saturday. We have a lopsided pitching matchup in this one, as William Cuevas and Ariel Jurado receive the starting assignments.
Cuevas has been on a downswing since recording a career-high ERA of 2.45 in 2022. The seven-year Korean baseball veteran has posted a 2.60 ERA, 4.10 ERA, and now has a 6.17 ERA and 1.61 WHIP this season. He’s going in the wrong direction and appears to be pitching with a tired arm.
Through his last four starts, Cuevas conceded 18 earned runs across 19.2 innings of work and his record has dropped to 2-7. The 34-year-old needs a sharp game to turn things around, but I don’t expect it to come versus the Lions. The Lions are third with a .265 batting average and lead the KBO in home runs with 72.
For the home team, Jurado is locked in for the Lions with a 2.45 ERA and 1.13 WHIP. In his first two years in the KBO, the 29-year-old former Texas Ranger, recorded a 2.65 ERA and 3.36 ERA with the Kiwoom Heroes. The Heroes are likely frustrated for letting him go because Jurado remains in top form.

Note that Jurado has allowed one or no earned runs in four of his previous five starts and eight of his last 11 outings! In his lone assignment versus the Wiz, Jurado lasted six innings with no runs and two hits allowed. Expect Jurado to be the difference in a victory for the Lions at home!
Kiwoom Heroes vs. Doosan Bears: Under 7.5 (-115)
Like the Wiz and Lions, the Kiwoom Heroes and Doosan Bears were rained out on Friday. This is a battle of the losers in the basement of the KBO. We should see the pitchers be the center of attention, as both offenses struggle to generate runs.
The Heroes rank last in the KBO with a .234 batting average. They’re also last in RBIs at only 237 RBIs this season. Expect the Heroes to find it difficult to hit Choi Seung-yong in Friday’s matchup. Choi heads to the bump with an ERA of 4.20 and a 1.34 WHIP.
He’s shown improvement from earlier in the season. Over his previous six starts, Choi has allowed two or fewer earned runs since May 4. Against a weak Heroes’ offense, expect Choi to record impressive numbers in this matchup. Likewise, Heroes’ ace Raul Alcantara should do the same versus the Bears.
Swinging K of the Day: Kiwoom's Raul Alcantara strikes out LG's Son Yong-Jun as he goes 8 innings, 3 hits, 1 run and 6K's to get the 4-1 win over LG https://t.co/8oejKQtkJW

Alcantara boasts a red-hot 2-0 record and 0.64 WHIP through two starts. He struggled last season due to an elbow injury, but is back on pace after rehabbing back to full health. Prior to the injury, Alcantara recorded a 2.54 ERA in 2023 and a 2.57 ERA in 2024. That’s the form we’re seeing from Alcantara in the absence of the injury.
So, the under 7.5 between the Heroes and Bears is one of the best KBO bets today!
