2023-24 NFC South Betting Odds and Predictions

2023-24 NFC South Betting Odds and Predictions

Someone has to win the NFC South. That is the overarching theme for this uninspiring division. In a final look at the NFC South odds, we are making our NFC South predictions and locking in football bets at the best NFL betting sites.

There is a real possibility that a team with a .500 record or worse wins the NFC South division. As of Week 13, the Atlanta Falcons lead the NFC South with a 6-6 record. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints are still in contention at 5-7.

All the NFC South teams aren’t a factor at Super Bowl betting sites. However, as we said, a team has to join the NFC South winner’s circle. Check out our NFC South predictions to see who we pick to win this embattled division.

NFC South Odds

The following NFC South betting odds are courtesy of BetUS:

TEAMPRESEASON ODDSDECEMBER ODDS
Atlanta Falcons+200-175
Tampa Bay Buccaneers+800+350
New Orleans Saints+125+375
Carolina Panthers+325NA

The Atlanta Falcons entered the season with the second-best odds to win the NFC South for the 2023-24 season. Currently, at -175, the Falcons are favored to win the NFC South.

With an implied probability of 63.6 percent to capture the NFC South division, the Falcons are the team to beat. Heading into Week 14 at 5-7, the Saints have regressed from +125 to +375 at BetUS.

In Bryce Young’s rookie campaign, the Carolina Panthers have been by far the most disappointing of the NFC South teams. After going into the 2023-24 season at +325 to win the division, their odds are no longer available at BetUS.

Atlanta Falcons (-175)

If the Falcons had their QB situation squared away, they would be a much larger favorite to win the NFC South. However, QB Desmond Ridder has not taken the big step that many people were expecting this season.

A month ago, head coach Arthur Smith benched Ridder in favor of backup Taylor Heinicke. After Heinicke suffered a hamstring injury, Ridder got another shot in the starting lineup.

Ridder has passed for 2,029 yards, eight touchdowns, and eight interceptions on just 63.3 percent completions. The only saving grace for Ridder is that he has some mobility. He’s gained 180 yards rushing on 4.3 yards per attempt and four touchdowns.

The Falcons have relied heavily on their running game. Behind the 1-2 punch of Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier, the Falcons are sixth in the NFL, with 135.2 yards rushing per game. Additionally, the Falcons have had one of the most underrated defenses in the league.

With 20 points and 315.9 yards allowed per game, the Falcons are in the Top 10 in the league and the best in the NFC South division on defense.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+350)

Many football pundits expected the Buccaneers to crash into the ground after Tom Brady retired. At +800, and a regular season win total of 6.5 games in the preseason, oddsmakers at sports betting sites didn’t have much confidence in Baker Mayfield, either.

The Buccaneers are two wins away from going Over their regular season win total. In their most important game of the season, the Buccaneers head to Atlanta in Week 14. Currently, the Falcons are a small 1-point favorite at home.

Following the Falcons matchup, the Buccaneers head to Lambeau Field to face the Green Bay Packers. Those are two tough games for the Buccaneers, and then finish the regular season against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Saints, and Panthers.

We see two wins, but it isn’t a lock by any means. The Buccaneers have been so inconsistent on both sides of the ball that you never know which team is going to appear. They rank outside the Top 20 in offensive and defensive yards per game.

New Orleans Saints (+375)

The Saints’ NFC South odds have regressed from +125 in the preseason to +375 in December. In a tie with the Buccaneers at 5-7, the Saints have a chance to steal the division and become NFC South champions.

This is a team that has gone through the season without an identity. They certainly aren’t a defensive force, nor is their offense consistent enough. The Saints’ offense has talent on paper, but it hasn’t come together this season.

In their 33-28 loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 13, QB Derek Carr was booed and then suffered multiple injuries. Currently, he is in concussion protocol, while Jameis Winston is taking first-team reps in practice.

Also, Taysom Hill is dealing with injuries, which might be the biggest setback of all. Winston might be an upgrade from Carr, but the locker room isn’t on the same page regardless of who is under center.

NFC South Predictions

We don’t advise logging into the best football betting sites and making a confidence wager on any NFC South team to win Super Bowl 58.

Additionally, there isn’t any value in betting on an NFC Conference Championship appearance. That being said, we can make some coin betting on a team to win the NFC South and a Wild Card Round.

Who will win the NFC South? We are going to stick with our preseason NFC South prediction. At +200, the Falcons were our first NFC South champions bet in the preseason.

Despite the QB issues, Robinson in the backfield and the defense can carry the Falcons to a divisional title. In a close race with no strong contender, picking the best defense and division leaders is never a bad wager. The Falcons are our top bet to win the NFC South.
