Puppy Bowl 2026 Key Info

Puppy Bowl XXXI features a record-breaking 150 puppies from 72 shelters across the US, Puerto Rico, and British Virgin Islands! This is the most puppies that have ever participated in the game, which includes 15 special needs dogs.

The action begins for the three-hour matchup on Animal Planet at 2:00 p.m. ET, on Sunday, Feb. 8. The puppies that you see in the game, ranging from 12 and 24 weeks old, are available for adoption following the matchup.

Points are awarded to teams after team members carry chew toys into the end zone on the playing field. Touchdowns are worth seven points, while a “double touchdown” counts when a dog carries a toy from end zone to end zone consecutively. Penalties are issued for unsportsmanlike behavior, including growling, humping, and defecating on the field.

The team with the most points will win the Lombarky Trophy!

Team Ruff vs. Team Fluff Winner: Team Ruff (-120)

    • Team Fluff (-120)
    • Team Ruff (-120)

Last season’s Puppy Bowl will be tough to top, but this one is expected to be highly entertaining as well. In 2025, Team Fluff prevailed as a -140 favorite following a 68-66 final! It came down to the very last play of the game, with Team Fluff staging a late rally to capture the Lombarky Trophy on a Paws Allen touchdown.

Team Fluff heads into 2026 with plenty of star power. With players such as Mutt Sniffford, Chappell Bone, and Josh Howlin’ leading the way, they’re poised to put up another big fight. The squad captured its sixth title since scores started being counted at Puppy Bowl XI in 2015.

That latest Lombarky Trophy win broke the tie in the all-time standings, as Team Fluff now owns six championships to Team Ruff’s five. Fluff has also taken three of the last four Puppy Bowls. Still, despite all that recent success and the talent on this year’s roster, I’m expecting Team Ruff to respond with a big effort.

There will be plenty of motivation from Duke Snugglebug and Devon-tails Smith to put Team Ruff back in the winner’s circle. Also, keep an eye on Lobster Roll and Asiago, who are both candidates to deliver clutch plays in the final minutes of Puppy Bowl XXXI. Don’t expect much separation on the scoreboard between these teams again this season.

In my experience, when the Puppy Bowl odds lean clearly toward one side, that team usually ends up winning. Remember, the Puppy Bowl airs as a replay on Super Bowl Sunday. In other words, there are people behind the scenes who already know the result. I’m not saying they’re betting on the Puppy Bowl, but the oddsmakers might have a pretty good idea of what’s coming.

Unlike BetUS’s equal odds to win Puppy Bowl 2026, BetOnline has Team Ruff favored at -130. Bettors clearly see the appeal of backing Duke Snugglebug and a big bounce-back performance from Team Ruff and I understand it.

For my Puppy Bowl betting pick, I’m taking Team Ruff to even the championship tally with a late touchdown to seal the win.

The Bet
Team Ruff
-120
